the importance of pesticide application on crops

It kills bugs that otherwise would decrease production or destroy the crop. How ever there is a economic level the justifies the application of the pesticide, just because a farmer found one worm does not means he should immediately apply a pesticide, it becomes a feasible option only when the population of bugs is large enough to do damage.

In China they started using pesticides, and other modern agriculture techniques about 20 years ago. Before that the average person barely had enough to eat. Many Chinese lived on a near starvation diet. Today food is plentiful in most parts of China. In fact, these days some Chinese are becoming fat, this is something that was never seen 20 years ago. Farms in China are able to produce several times what they could produce 20 years ago. This has been a major factor in raising the standard of living for at least most Chinese people. I know many people are against the use of pesticides, but others claim the dangers have been over exaggerated.
