She is living in her original home w/ her original family w/ her breeding mate. She's been breed 5 times but owners want to get rid of her cuz she she won't be breeding any longer. I know there will be a huge adjustment--loss of home, family, pups. What kind of behavior should I expect ? What can I do to make the transition easier ?

You will be surprised at how well she adjusts. Pugs are really very outgoing and happy go lucky by nature. She will not miss having puppies and you should get her spayed.
She will want chew toys and pugs love tug o war so buy some of those ropes.
You will need a crate and food of course.
Pugs find things on the floor and will eat about anything they find. Be especially cautious with pills if you drop any.
It sounds like she is being retired at an early age and that shows the breeder didn't want to put her through the stress as an older dog. Plus, she is nice and young for you still and will have many many happy years ahead.

Getting her on a Friday night is best so you can spend the whole weekend with her before going out to work again on Monday, if that is your situation.
If you are in a warm climate you should keep a ice pack in the freezer for her, it cools them down faster if they overheat, which is easy for pugs to do. Pugs love kids, if you have any she will be even happier. They love to be with their owner and you will find that she will attach herself to you very quickly.

Congratulations!

PS, look for local pug groups that meet. I attend one where we often get 50 pugs in the playroom and they are constantly in motion and having a blast.

You can expect a five year old female Pug who is being retired from breeding. Seriously, a rest is what she needs and probably will welcome a quieter life. Just be good to her and give her lots of nutrition, and play, and love; she will be fine. Don't forget to take her to her first visit (wth you) to her new vet. He/she will answer all your questions and make sure she is getting off to a good start!

I would REALLY have a bit of rethink here about actually getting this dog as they may not have given her as much care as they could have done over the years...IMO it seems VERY heartless to get rid of her as they feel she has outlived her usefullness, five litters in five years is a bit much so you may well be getting a dog that has some MAJOR health issues..............

Poor pup, used for 5 years then kicked to the curb! she will adapt but it will take time. just make sure the dog is not sick or aggressive.
