What are others, where you can be sure the money you give, is actually going to be given to help those they claim they're giving it to? I would look online, but there are a ton of them, and I don't trust the internet all that much as far as giving money goes.

According to the Better Business Bureau's "Wise Giving Alliance" (give.org), Christian Children's Fund (CCF) meets the Twenty Standards for Charity Accountability. For the fiscal year ending June 30, 2005, 81.32% of funds actually went to active projects; 11.19% went to pay for more fundraising; and 7.48% went to pay administrative costs. That's pretty good.

The American Institute of Philanthropy (CharityWatch.org) gave it an A. Check the site below for other worthwhile charities.

Are any charitable organizations really legitimate? When you see how the people who run these organizations live and compare that to how the people they are supposed to be helping, live, you should have an answer to that. If you really want to give money, try some random acts of kindness and give it directly to those you see who are in need.
Maybe buy a bunch of groceries and have them delivered to a poor family. Stuff like that.

I would like to reiterate what a few have said already, World Vision is a legitimate charitable organization. I have worked with them in the past and have seen the results of my contributions.

Somehow I just do not believe that the 'childrens fund' is real???
if I am wrong, Im sorry..... but I remember sally field-being a spoksperson for it, the the longer she did it, the fatter she got= getting money herself?, also that guy Larry? and his wife.. dont know her name, but they just keep getting fatter and fatter too----- also like Praise the lord? Jan (with all the make-up) and her husband Paul, they just get oin there begging for money to feed the children, hmmmmmm.... Paul is a fat thing, and Jan looks like a CLOWN, with a pink TUPEY!

I am sorry if I am wrong.....

I ALWAYS donate to the ASPCA- and The Atlanta Humane Soceity, also I donated to the New Orleans animal fund.
I feel that God sees are heart, and I believe that he would want us to help the animals too?
if I know for a fact that an organization is legit ( lukeima fund) here in Atlanta, I will donate.
I DO NOT donate to the good will 'sANTA RINGING BELL IN FRONT OF STORE AT CHRISTMAS'
Because- I feel that the money is being used to buy gifts for children, that are in a home with a mother who already gets wellfare, foodstamps, and free housing, free medical, and free many things... and yet still manage to get their hair and nails done, have a cell phone, AND drive a new SUV or something.

This is only my opinion, I am not trying to offend anyone.

MERF They have most of their leadership as voluntary so most or all the aid ends up as aid and they distribute it through locals not hand it to the government.
You can choose where also like Sudan or wherever. Ask them for info and they will send you some.

St. Jude's Children's Hospital is helping children with all forms of cancer. It is well worth your charity. Almost all donations go to helping these kds, and very little goes to administrative overhead.
