dear friend
depending on which state you are living in, go to their 'secretary of state' office / 'department of motor vehicles' office. They will take care of all your questions from there on. their number can be found in any phone directory. or, you could go to www.msn.com and search for that particular state's secretary of state's website. for example ' illinois secretary of state'. i think that would be your safest option and in correct direction as well.
