There are many reasons that women aren't allowed to be SEAL's. One of them is "that time of the month". Women complain that they get emotional and have cramps. You can't be emotional when you're on a covert mission because you could get trigger happy. The cramping would hamper the mission. Also, there would have to be seperate berthing for women and if a woman ever got caught, do you have ANY idea what kind of torture they'd endure? Rape comes to mind. It's not that women aren't physically capable of doing the same thing a man can, it's that there are too many factors that would come into play in a wartime situation that we're just not willing to let happen to our female troops.

No offense but I don't want to fight next to a femalee. I am in the Infantry and the last thing I want to worry about is a woman. When the **** goes down and two people are hurt a mans natural instinct is to protect or help a femal first. I can't have that cloud my judgment in combat. I need to be focused on the mission. I need to think about who is injured worse or who needs a base of fire so they can move to cover. I'm not saying women can't do things men can. Maybe we need an all woman Infantry Division and then they could operate under the same conditions as us where gender is not an issue. Can you imagine what would happen if two soldiers in voled in a relationship were put into combat together and one was seriously injured or killed? The seals, Rangers, Special Forces and Marine Recon are no joke. That **** is crazy. I'm not saying that a woman making it through the training is impossible but the aftermath would be bad for unit cohesion and esprit de corps!
I will mention though that a female Kiowa pilot(attack helicopter) was just awarded the Distinguished Fling Cross. She was shot in the foot while engaging the enemy and kept flying until her mission was complete. That is some HOOAH ****!

Female Animals have been known to attack females due to hormonal scents being given off. A jungle would be a poor place to hide for a Female Trying to carry out a covert action. some seals in the 70's spent 43 days in wet suits in shark infested water! Sorry sister you cannot hold in your period!

Country....
First it's not a guy thing...it's a legal, federal law or regulation thing.
Complain to your US Representative ans US Senator. They are the one who have to change the law restricting women from being in operational combat roles.
Just curious...to whom are your and your friends going to give your petition? And what will the petition demand?
And to winemkr... Look at what GI Jane did? A fictional movie character? Honestly...I'll assume that you were just being sarcastic.

Woman are not allowed in Combat positions but the war in Iraq has changed that. Women like Jessica Lynch have seen active combat at the frontlines. The US military is living in a American National Identity, masculine, Alpha male world. wwoman would destroy cohesiveness and effectivity due to the distraction in the field or on frontlines.

Look, Like the guy said earlier. I'm sure women could handle the cardiovascular and intelligence side, but when it comes down to just to some of the straight foward muscle needed to pull off some of the things that our special operations do, it's just damn impossible. I'm sure a woman could run just as well, but could she carry an 80 pound rucksack over 25 to 30 miles through terrain that sucks just to walk through? Can she drag a downed comrade to safety who weighs about 270 lbs with all of his kit(combat equipment)? Seriously, think about it.

One major reason is for all the screaming of "equal" the American public does not want women in combat.
Don't let anyone give the stale , fall back answers that blame it all on the "men's club" or "military hierarchy"- a lot of feminists and women in political power don't want to have to explain the deaths of women to the media or American public. Military deaths happen whether from combat or traffic accidents but a woman's death is bad public relations for everyone. Cruel but a fact of life.

Women CAN"T do anything a man can do. No woman should be in any infantry or forward units. I am a Marine and am offended by people like you who think everything should be equal. There isn't a problem with women being in the military, but not in any combat units. What happens when they get captured and are POW's. Much easier to break their spirits. BELIEVE ME, I know from a military point of view. Physically, men are naturally better. The military had to make physical tests easier already just to allow them to be accepted into certain jobs. We don't need any women in our special forces. You women can get mad at me and I could care less. You don't like it because the truth hurts. Well feelings have no part in military life so get over it.

I believe women should not be in any combat unit. It is a distraction. If women weren't on the USS Cole it wouldn't been hit because the boys would have there eyes on the job and not on some chicks A$$

Physically and endurence wise women and men are not exactly the same. Surely there are some very strong women, but per capita the ratio of SEAL fit men to SEAL fit women would be no contest.
