My cat just started to sleep under the covers and cats don't normally like being under covers or having something cover their body when they sleep. So I am greatly concerned at why my cat has started this unique way of sleeping.

Either it's nice and warm for them or the like being hidden. Or possibly both.

All the cats i have had sleep under the covers! Cats like to stay warm that's why they sleep in the sun! They are probably just cold.

When I was in Manila, my cat NEVER slept under the covers. But when we got back to the States, he started to snuggle under the covers by my legs (mite uncomfortable for me as you may imagine). I think it is becuase of the cold weather. Cats do not like sleeping in a cold, drafty place. My sister-in-law's 10 year old cat ALWYS sleeps under her bed covers and seems OK. Also, as they get older, they tend to seek more warmth. I wouldn't worry too much if I were you - as long as sleeping under the covers is all the new behavior your cat is displaying.

I have three cats and two of them love to be under the covers. They have been like that since they were kittens so I am thinking it's a cozy and safe place that they really enjoy. I also have one cat who wants to sleep on top of someone's feet. She is about thirteen pounds and you always know when it's here on your feet. My oldest cat is fifteen and he will headbutt you in the face to get under the covers. He knows where he wants to be. He totally trusts us not to roll over on him too! Once he's under the cover he doesn't want to come out.

My daughter has a cat that sleeps under the covers and he seems just fine. If he gets to warm he just moves to his bed. So I wouldn't worry

My cat does it all the time. Ever since I've had him, his gone to my bed lifted the comforter, crawled in underneath it and gone to sleep, sometimes for hours. Sometimes he will even crawl in bed with me but he never stays for very long, I think it gets too hot and stuffy. He's almost 10 years old.

Cats like to sleep where it is the warmest, so that must be the warmest spot in the house. :)
