I am going to get a tattoo on my lower back, and have been trying to find someone to help me with a sketch to give the artist a basic idea of what I want to start with. I intend to have the artist adjust the sketch I take, and turn it into his own work, but I dont draw, and need a "starting point"... Any ideas where I might be able to find someone to help me with a sketch? Thanks!

any tattoo artist that is a true artist will be able to start from scratch. all of my tattoos are originals that i described to my artist. actually, he is great and on my last tattoo i just let him draw whatever... he freehanded it on my back (with a marker not with the tattoo gun) so don't sell the artist short. but do your research and make sure that the person is a great artist. if they sketch out something and you don't like it, tell them you'd like some changes. they should be happy to accomodate you. you are their client after all.

also, i commend you on not just getting the same ole same ole flash like so many other people do. yay for you!
good luck!

I actually went to the artist himself and tossed around a few ideas and had him draw up what I wanted. Most artists are very willing to work with you.

If you are going to get it done with them, most will do the sketch for free. If they know you're taking it somewhere else, there will be a charge.

If you are unable to find a friend, try the artist. This way, s/he is making it their own off the bat.

Yes, that's what custom tattoos are. You can either bring in your own ideas or they can help you.
