I think your wifes choice of cameras is fine. I have a Nikon Coolpix and I am very happy with it. Funny thing...I am so illiterate about digital cameras that when I went to the store to upgrade my card, the sales clerk told me I didn't have a card in my camera. Silly me...no wonder why I'd only get 3-5 pictures.

Sounds like it might be your first digital camera? Hopefully, it is an inexpensive one, to begin with. That way, if it doesn't suit your photo needs, you're not out a lot. When I upgrade, I will look to Nikon...and others. Cost being a factor and all.

I'm on my second Nikon digital. No problems with either. My son has a Coolpix, and it works fine for him.

Is there something wrong with your wife's camera? Or are you just wondering if Nikon cameras are good?

I wouldn't buy a Nikon Point and Shoot camera today, but I am not aware of any reliability issues. I own 7 Nikons, including 4 P&S, but since Nikon dropped the optical viewfinder on their P&S cameras, I'd buy a Canon today. That's what I told both of my adult children to do and they are happy.

I have a Nikon Coolpix 885. The lens just kept being stuck. I had it repaired 3 times already. I would not buy a Nikon ever again.
