Never heard of a soft shell clam. sure you aren't talking about a soft shell crab?

The habitat of a soft shell clam is:
Soft muddy substrates in estuaries,. Common in eel-grass beds. Survives in high organic-low oxygen conditions.
Is a poor digger, burrows to maximum of 20 Cm's, may occur with butter clams, planktonic larvae dispersed by currents. Adults remain in the same burrow for life.
Began in Maine harvested coast since mid 1800's.
The Atlantic and entire B.C. coast often found in "Blackish Waters."
