Guys I'm soo worried I have bladder cancer. I've had some tests done.. no sign of infection. I had an ultrasound and cytology done a couple of months ago and the ultrasound showed what they believe are kidney stones, but these tests aren't accurate for diagnosing bladder cancer. Anyways I have symptoms that aren't characteristic of kidney stones sitting in your kidneys. I have pain in my bladder a lot, pain in my bladder when I urinate, blood, frequency and now I have lower back pain. All my symptoms sort of come and go day to day. I'm freaking out I have bladder cancer or some kind of cancer.. maybe prostate or urethral. Can anyone give me any thoughts. I have a ct scan booked for 2 weeks and yes of course I've seen doctors.

You are absolutely correct when you say that some of these tests are inaccurate. My sister who was 47 was diagnosed with gall stones and it took weeks for her to get the surgery and it was then they discovered she had 3rd stage pancreatic cancer.Do yourself a favour and get that mri sooner rather than later to ensure a correct diagnosis. Hope it all goes well.

Hope you can ignore the ignorant responses!(std) Hang in there. It could be stones. True, once the stones are in your bladder most people don't have bad pain any more. You could have problems with your prostate, ureters or the kidneys themselves. There's more of a chance with that then bladder cancer. If they haven't already ,they need to do more then just a simple urinalysis. You need have a culture and a cystoscopy to look inside the bladder. I agree with the CT, but that was jumping the gun if they havent done the other first.

You had the same question a week ago (at another forum perhaps?). In any event Hootie ask your Family Doctor for a referral to a Urologist. You already have the results of a Cytology test, the next step is Cystoscopy. Maybe a bit uncomfortable ut then again a lot of medical tets are.
The test is maybe 3 minutes and the MD can give you the results right then and there. If it is a bad result they (a surgeon) can do a TUR and remove any polyps/tumors.

You probably do not have bladder cancer.
You have mentioned cytology was performed, I suppose it was negative.
A CT may help, a cystoscopy would probably help more - your doctors will decide. Personally, I think you might have prostatitis - not unfrequently there is no appearant infection, chronic pains in lower back and pelvis, etc.
Don't wory, you are only 26 years old! It is very unlikely, that you have prostate or bladder cancer!!!

Pain and blood can also be from the stones. Try not to freak out until you have the tests and know for sure. You'll wind up hurting yourself more if you dwell on it.
