I was born in Mexico and i will be straight off the bat I came here ilegally, but you know what I have gotten my citizenship,I work and 8 hour job, and I care for my baby daughter and my wife. I still experience racism on a day to day basis, and it is the only thing i hear on the radio and see on the tv. I am fed up with the way things are going here should I go back to Mexico?

If you thought things were better in Mexico then wouldn't you have stayed. We all have to pay a price to make it in America. There is racism and sexism for many not just Mexicans. I think you have to decide what is best for your family. You don't have the right to run when things get rough anymore. You are now responsible for two other lives.

Well first of all you should understand there will always be racism, always. Now, why did you come in the first place? does dealing with the racism outweigh your former life in Mexico? are you living a better life? Will your daughter live a better life here or in Mexico? Once you have answered these questions you should be able to make your decision. Another thought may be to move to a different part of the country, some places are much more tolerable than others.

If everybody who is uncomfortable in a situation just gave up, then the world would be a much different place than it is now. Please, stay here, and try to set a good example for other immigrants. If you can, try to talk some of the people that are illegal into applying for citizenship, then you would be doing everybody a favor- They could legally work, you would gain respect, and your daughter can grow up in a world where this is not an issue anymore.
It's a hard fight, I know, but please. If you run across a racist person, just try to prove to them that they are wrong.
Thsi is not the first time that an immigrant group has had to prove themselves. They did it, and you can too!

I dont think you should run away from your problems, the only thing you'll find in Mexico is more problems that perhaps may be worse. Whoever is being racist towards you does not have any more rights here than you do and therefore you should not let them intimidate you. Stay and work out your problems or move to another area, but not back to Mexico. Im afraid your daughter will not have the same opportunities for success there that she would have here and is completely entitled to. Good luck.

I don't think you should, if you've gotten this far then just keep on fighting for the right to remain here, because no one can take away what you've earned. No matter what happens you're still gonna find ignorant people around the world, and you'll be fine putting them aside and going about your business. My parents came to this country illgally and so did I, i'm a citizen now, and i've accomplished many things i'm proud of, and no one can bring me down from my cloud.

Keep up the faith and just see that everything's gonna blow over soon. If you think about it, what are you gonna get from going back to Mexico? you're gonna make all the pro-americans happy, by doing what they want you to do to begin with. Stay here and just make the best of what you have!!!! *hugz*

Count your blessing, that you became a citizen, and you did not get deported. The big picture is on illegal immigrants, and you are not illegal anymore, so I don't see what that has to do with you. If you are experiencing racism, perhaps you might be in a situation where you are attracting it to your self. This sounds cold, but I have seen it happen, you may not be trying to assimilate with the rest of the culture. I have seen people be accepted, and not be accepted the cause of this problem can just as easy be the person yelling racism.

but in all fairness, I do not know your situation first hand, so I can only speculate.

Well that is completely your decision!!!
You know if you have your citizenship here maybe you might want to consider moving to another area. Not all of America is racist. I am a white women and occasionally I feel out of place...depending on where I am.
You need to think of your daughter first and foremost...what is in her best interest. Maybe you should really consider relocation!!

some Hispanics are really hard workers and take care of their families and respect America.. and others just don't give a sh!t.. its really sad that the majority DONT give a sh!t and ruin it for the rest of you. I'm not going to apologize for others racial actions.. but i will tell you this.. i don't suggest that you leave.. i suggest that you stay.. you have as much right to be here as anyone.. though you were illegal to start with you gained citizenship and you work just as hard as any other American.

Make the distiction- you are Mexican-American, not just a Mexican! A Mexican-American is not always born in this country, although it does mean that. A naturalized citizen is an American. Jump right back up at them, and tell them that!

You shouldn't, since you are now legal, unless you really want to. Being in this country rightfully, especially during these times, is something to be proud of. I really admire the fact that you decided to go through the steps to become legalized, since so many people aren't willing to do that nowadays.
