i have a serious problem. i met a very special man in ghana when i was there doing some humanitarian work. i will be going back soon (i am from the u.s.) and we plan to marry and come back here to start a family. the problem is with my family. they don't trust our relationship and they think that my fiance is a con artist and is only using me to have a way into the u.s. i think that they should trust my judgement and accept that we love each other and want to be together. what should i do?

Trust your gut! But I think maybe you should bring him home to meet your family before you get married. Let them see for themselves what you two share and then if they still won't have him, forget them. Do what will make you the most happy. If your family truly loves you they will come around.
