Because our faith and our intellects are weak down here.

This earthly life seems far more real to us than heaven, even if we have accepted the existence of heaven on an intellectual level.

It is not merely our intellectual understanding that motivates us in life, but feelings and subjective impressions have a large say as well.

We shouldn't unduly strain to prolong our lives, but we should be willing to live as long as God wants us to live, prudently taking care of our health, well-being, and safety.

For we are formed for heaven, by living out God's plan in this life.

Because there is much Grey areas in that 3 lbs. Grey matter inside the head searching for the truth of so many Truth authorities. None can be convincing. To go to heaven one must discover how. We have tried spacecraft but so far we can only physically reach moon. We tried to listen to the evangelists, so far they only offer promises at the expense of our 10% income. Some tried hallucinating drugs but only to damage brain cells. Assuming there is heaven, which coincidentally, I am one of those who believe there is such place, my position is to reset my mind the ignorance that I am the physical body as a start. I am still very much working my daily life ignorantly but somehow my mind can see some truth of my true divine being. Not much but a good start.

Because they know they're not going there. That is why. Now, don't get the wrong idea. Death isn't something you suicidally embrace whether you are going there or not. It may be you are experiencing pain in the parting because of a serious illness. But, I think, if you are in your spirit at peace, you receive a kind of grace, if you will, to meet death with dignity, when it comes, as it comes for all of us.

Because they know their belief in heaven is based on faith...and has the possibility to be wrong

Many will claim that they "know" of heaven, but the threat of death is the ultimate test of just how sure they are...after all, we only fear the unknown.

This is a fatally flawed question in that it assumes people do assume there is a heaven and it is good. I see no reason to male this assumption
