You're right, no Christian should be threatened by questions. However, I think if someone has been raised in an environment where everyone believed the same way or the same thing, it's a shock to discover not everyone believes as you do. Some people have no trouble once this realization occurs. Also, I personally appreciate curiosity, especially if it's sincere. I do think people get defensive when really rude or stupid questions are asked. I've always thought that the people who get overly defensive aren't as strong in their faith as they may think they should be.

I don't think its really a matter of being on the defense. A true Christian is solid in their faith and takes knock graciously ,but there are those who come across as being angry because some one has said rude or unjust things about them ,their faith, or most important their God. I don't think its a battle really, its just So personal and the attacks go deep. I don't think its a question that's hard to answer. Its sometimes the offensive way Its asked and even being a Christian things can still be offensive.-you know?

I'm not on the defensive, being firm in the Truth.

The only thing that troubles me still is blatant blasphemy. While God does not need me to defend him in any way, I still harbor the tendency to speak out of sarcasm or derision when I hear blasphemous statements.

Yours, here, is not such a statement. I am just answering your question in full--i.e., accounting for the times when I do go on the defensive...which is my own desire to defend God, who doesn't require my services in this regard.

No we should not- Maybe our responses sound defensive? I know I am defending God's word, and I will do so always....but never do I personally feel offended. I know many will say hateful things about my Lord and Savior- and I actually feel sorry for them and hope and pray the Lord will draw them to Him. I know that many are lost- and many want the truth- I am glad there are christians on here proclaiming the truth of God's word- it needs to be out there. But I dont think a lot of us christians are personally offended, I like to answer questions using bible scripture because they are God's words. It gives me JOY to answer questions with God's word!

Because we want you to know the truth. It's our job to tell you about God. So you must be threatened by your firm belief.

That, or we are so often under attack by those who question and insult us that it come natural. Consider if you will the number of questions that pop up on YA that are insulting to Christians. Many are of the "why are you so stupid to believe..." variety. Others insult Christians due to the sinful actions of other Christians (Haggard is a good example).

exactly,, but why someone without a God would ask questions and make points on folkes in the spiritual area is beyond me i mean its not productive to be drawn into a mess by someone without a spiritual life,, i pray you may come to realize that to a minister or an evangelist your questions and taunts are a cry for help,, and a sign of spiritual need and desire to be freed,,

Questions don't threaten in the least.

It has to do with the surreal questions, that people like you post that have little merit and a lot of sarcasm and hatred.

Just an observation.
Takes more than you to upset.

I am not threatened, but by answering questions and defending my God, I may be helping others understand and come to Jesus.
