And you weren't afraid at night? MY, you were a brave little thing.

Because it is dark and children have wonderful imaginations. I'm a very spiritual person so I also believe that some children can see spirits and that frightens them. (Sylvia Browne's son had issues sleeping when he was younger)

My almost 5 year old wakes up almost every night from nightmares or because she is scared. Sometimes 2-3 times a night. It's almost like having a newborn again LOL

I think kids are scared at night because the dark just makes things scarier. Notice whenever something scary happens it happens at night.

I am 22 and still am afraid of the dark. I have to have a night light or I can not sleep at all. I have known other people my age an older that prefer to have some sort of light on. Its for comfort.

Because it is dark and it is so quiet. When I was a child I remember being afraid alot at night because I would always see spooky things and when I would tell my parents they said that it was my imagianation. So I totally understand if a child is scared...

Kids usually have very active imaginations and can turn the most everyday thing into something scary in the dark.

Children have heightened imaginations and sometimes can not distinguish between reality and fiction. If they read about a monster in the closet they may think there is one at night.
