Bathe the cat. We have a long haired cat that can get funky after a while that we bathe. He doesn't like it, but he smells much better and his coat is much softer and shinier after wards. We give him some catnip and all is forgiven...once he's dry.

A pet store employee once told me to use baking soda. It works but you have to do it every day until the smell goes away. May want two or three people around since he may not like the idea.
Then use a cat brush if you used too much

Is he a long haired cat? You will need to help him out with the grooming if he is - its too much for him to manage by himself and he'll get hairballs.
Long haired cats often need to be bathed to stop them stinking.
If he's a regular shorthair then I would try and look at his mouth and take him to the vet. Cats are very clean and the main reason they will stop grooming is usually because they have a sore mouth (bad gums, loose teeth etc) and it hurts to groom - they will need to get their teeth sorted out and the bad ones removed by a vet.
Another reason for a cat to not groom properly is if they are feeling ill (just as a person will neglect their appearance if they are very ill). We had a female cat who put on a lot of weight and stopped grooming. We took her to the vet who discovered she has a kidney infection which was causing her a lot of pain and because she was so depressed with the pain she had stopped grooming.
She was treated with antibiotics which cleared up the infection, but we still had to give her a "helping hand" with the grooming as she was so fat she couldn't reach some parts of her body! Luckily a weight loss diet sorted that out but she needed a bit of help whilst the weight was coming off.
We also had another cat who got very "depressed" after the introduction of a dog to the house and stopped grooming for that reason. We had to groom her until she perked up.
Try bathing him and grooming him (very nice and relaxing for both of you!) but do check with your vet in case your cat isn't feeling 100% and thats why he's stopped cleaning himself.

there are a number of sturdy solutions here that I believe. you're saying which you have 2 cats, is the 2nd cat a sparkling addition? besides a available actual ailment, your cat could be having some psychological subject concerns. He could be disenchanted with the addition of the 2nd cat. Cats are usually a sparkling animal and spend lots of their time preening, in spite of weight, till they're somewhat obese. remember to take him to a vet and have him regarded at to do away with any actual problems. If there are none, then possibility is that's psychological. Has your recurring replaced extensively? Has there been any considerable differences on your enjoyed ones, such as somebody leaving or consistent with possibility somebody moved in? As for the toddler wipes, i could on no account use a product designed for human beings on a puppy. in case you need to use any variety of a wipe, it may be acceptable to apply a face fabric with undeniable previous heat water or bypass to a depended on puppy grant shop and seek for wipes designed for cats. The chemical compounds on toddler wipes isn't sturdy for any animal. additionally, after cleansing your 5 365 days. previous cat, be certain you wash your palms thoroughly till now coping with your different cat as a manner to shrink the possibility of spreading any an infection/ailment .

If it's a kitten:
We used to put Bisto on my kitten's bum to encourage him to clean himself. It works a treat! They naturally enjoy cleaning themselves, just they need someone to get them into the the habit sometimes!
Much better for cat and owner than a bath!

Usually, that is too long for me. I consider it depends on the guy and his face though. Certain guys may pull off long hair and other people can't.

Give it a bath. Eventually it will get sick of baths and start cleaning itself. Our kitten did that for a while and the bathing gave it the idea.

I had a tom kitten once who obviously took pride in his pungence! I found that wiping his "smelly bits" with Kandoo did the trick, and he soon learned to do it himself to avoid the displeasure of the wipes!

take it to the vet! Cats hate being dirty so there must be something wrong with him if he is not cleaning himself!
