Conscription ended in 1973 for Vietnam.

There has been no serious attempt to reinstate inductions since the effort to enforce the draft registration law was abandoned in 1986

June 30, 1973. I remember because my draft number was 14 and I was "available to be drafted that year...even though I was in college.

I went to the AFEES examination station and received a 6 month deferment since I had had a sever neck injury in football. Five months later they ended the draft.

Two years later after college I join the army the 1st year it was an all volunteer army. Yeah...I recall the date.
