did you ever think for once that god is not real? I am sure everyone goes through that thought atleast once in their lifetime. Please be honest.

Yep. That's why I'm atheist now...

I went through a period of time when I had my doubts. Probably in my mid-20's - in college - and maybe after. But I searched the Scriptures, I prayed for guidance, I asked for the truth to be made manifest....and the signs were (and still are) overwhelming.

There was just too much evidence....evidence that simply demanded a verdict. Either Jesus was who he said he was - or he was a liar or a lunatic (C.S. Lewis, the great atheist-turned-Christian asked that question first - it's not original to me!)

I've since had so many mystical experiences that cause me to be constantly aware of God's Presence....that I have not had those kind of "god is not real" thoughts for many years now.

But have I had them??....yeah...sure.

I wasn't born a Christian and have gone through a whole list of different ideas and beliefs. There was a time I was so against Christianity, the Bible and the God of the Bible. There was a time I didn't believe. Sometimes I have doubts about how I believe. If i'm interpreting correctly, if I'm reading things right. *shrug* I try my best, what else can I do? I don't doubt that God exists though.

Sure, I've wondered about God's reality many times. But I always come back to the same conclusion; the only thing harder to believe, intellectually, than the existance of a living God, is the idea that there is no God. Anyone who will believe that the universe and everything in it exists "just cuz"... will believe anything. And they commonly do. :)

Sure. It's called a crisis of faith. It happens most often when we forget that God is not there to reward us, like some kind of genii in a magic bottle. We must acquire an understanding that all things come to pass because of the will of God. When that happens, we are finally able to remain faithful even when the trials in our lives make it hard for us to be sure that God is near.

On the cross, Jesus Christ himself said, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

Read the book of Jonah for a story of a man who doubted the God that he believed in.

Nothing you can think of has not occurred to religious people of all times, and most of it is covered some place in the Bible.

"There's nothing you can know that isn't known.
Nothing you can see that isn't shown....."

Honestly, I never did. It just never even was a question for me. But then I had an encounter with God at a very early age - that I actually would not even remember until I would give my life to God close to my 28th birthday. To even entertain the idea that God did not exist - it just wasn't in me to even go there. Did I reject God? Yes. Flat out. At about age 19 or 20, I actually told God 'Thanks n all, but I can't do Your "thou shalt and thou shalt not" program. So, C'ya!'

But as the years rolled on and life got more and more real year by year, every once in a while I would cry out to God. Once I remember crying out lout to Him in agony, 'Why am I so alone???'

I know now that He had compassion on me in those times - yes, even the time I said, 'C'ya' and went to do my own thing. If I had been listening when I told Him I couldn't do His "thou shalt and thou shalt not" program I could have heard Him saying, "I know." I would have heard Him say that He wasn't interested in me doing all that. I could have heard Him saying that all He wanted was for me to give Him my heart so that He could transform it and give me His nature in my heart so that I would, by nature, do those things that please Him. Why? So that I could walk with Him and know Him. That's all He's ever wanted.

In the past when I lost my mom , I did question God. But never doubted that God was there. Later in life I have realized that all I have is God, and the changes He has made in my life have convinced me that He is real.

Yup, for many, many years prior to becoming a Christian. Then I used my 120 billion cells and 130 trillion chemical/electronic connection (translation: my brain) and studied books like "The Signature of God" by Grant Jeffrey that provided the scientific back-up I needed and many autobiographies that provided life changes that are humanly impossible and too many other books here to list. Last, I sincerely asked Him into my life & heart and He showed up :-)

Yes I have doubted before but it only took 2 seconds until I realized "WHAT?" Of course God is real and it is Satan who puts those thoughts into people's minds- and it is the Holy Spirit who straightens me out when I do doubt. I cannot imagine my life without God- knowing God exists makes MORE sense than anything. And not just by looking at His creation- but yes by studying His word- He has revealed himself more and more to me- And I stand in awe of Him~

I once went through something where I was mad at God and didn't want to believe He was real. I told everyone I was atheist, but the truth was I was just mad at God. I got over it after a year or two and repented and asked for forgiveness. I believe I had to go through that to be stronger spiritually.

Before I accepted salvation thru Jesus, Son of the one true God, I thought a great deal like you.

Since then, I have had periods where my faith was weak, but I always know that God is there for me. Do I doubt that God lives? No. Not in the least.

Thank you for your question.
