The only way to treat such an infestation is to treat the yard, treat the house and continue to treat your dog. Frontline is a great product, but it won't get rid of the fleas in your environment. You can get get flea killing shampoo and dips, but if you don't treat his environment , they only work minimally. Sucks, I know, but it is what you have to do. And remember, to kill fleas, you must destroy the cycle. Your exterminator should tell you this, too. Treating once is not enough.
Good luck!

Frontline does indeed kill fleas. Frontline Plus kills fleas PLUS flea eggs. What stops fleas from reproducing without having any effect on the fleas themselves is Program (lufenuron), an ingredient in Sentinel (it's essentially birth control for fleas.)
Yes, you need to treat your yard every 2-3 weeks for at least 3 treatments to break the flea's life cycle. No matter what the exterminators tell you, there is no such thing as a chemical that kills all 4 stages of that life cycle at the same time. And yes, your DVM's staff is well-versed as to what is working and what's not in your particular area (fleas build up regional resistance to insecticides.)
But even better.....the Frontline you purchased is 100% guaranteed by the company (assuming you bought it from an authorized source, and not via the Internet, pet stores, or mail order....in which case it might be counterfeit.) They have excellent customer service, and their techs at the 800# (look on the box) will talk to you all day about how to get your flea problem under control if you want them to. Take advantage of that. They'll often offer to send you a coupon for free product if you tell them you're still seeing fleas. Sometimes, it needs to be applied more frequently than every 4 weeks (they'll talk to you about that.)
If you're completely dissatisfied, they'll offer a full refund....but again, that's only if you bought it from a veterinarian. (Since they only sell to veterinarians, anyone else who's selling it came by it by dubious methods, and the company therefore cannot guarantee such product.) In your case, I suspect that the Frontline is working just fine and that you need environmental control......but call the company. They'll be HAPPY to help you.
Please don't use Biospot. :-/ There's a REASON veterinarians don't keep it on our shelves. We get tired of treating Biospot toxicities. Rotating is a good idea....but stick to Advantage, Advantix, Revolution, and Frontline. Psssssttt.....there are newer and much better ones just over the horizon, but that's all I can say for now unless I kill you.
What makes you think the fleas are still biting him???? If he has scabs or scratches a lot, that's not from the flea bites themselves but from an allergic reaction to their saliva. If so, he'll still scratch for WEEKS after the fleas are gone, unless the skin is appropriately treated with antibiotics, cortisone, and antihistamines at the same time. He might also be reacting to mosquito bites. Advantix helps that a LOT.

Are you sure they are not dying off after they bite him..Frontline IS supposed to kill them after they bite--but you will still find fleas if you dont treat the yard, house , bedding etc.. You need to treat everything for fleas--There are different products for that--Also did you give your dog a bath before or after the frontline ? You should wait AT least 24 hours before or after applying to give your dog a bath--I would say get the rest of the area treated and keep putting the frontline on him and you should start noticing a big change.. Good luck

The fleas don't need to bite the dog in order to die when you use Frontline. Fleas will still get on your dog as long as they are in the enviornment even with Frontline. The fleas will die and so will the eggs & larve, but because they are in the enviornment more will get back on him.

I can't guarantee this will work for you but you may want to try changing product for awhile. I used Frontline and Advantage on my dogs and it worked great for a long time and then suddenly seemed to have lost part of its effect. Treating the house and yard is good and then you may want to try another product. I switched to BioSpot, available at PetSmart and I am sure other pet stores. That is just where i know it is available. So far so good.

RUB APPLE CIDER VINEGAR ALL OVER YOUR DOG HE MAY SMELL LIKE A SALAD BUT IT WILL KEEP THE FLEAS OFF. YOU MAY ALSO WANT TO CONSIDER GIVING YOUR DOG BREWERS YEAST WITH GARLIC TABLETS ON A REGULAR BASIS (DAILY) AFTER TAKING THIS FOR A WHILE YOUR DOG WILL NEVER HAVE A FLEA PROBLEM AGAIN. THIS STUFF IS SOLD AT MOST PET SUPPLY STORES (PETSMART). YOU NEED TO TAKE ACTION IN THE HOUSE AS WELL BECAUSE IF FLEAS ARE ON YOUR DOG AND THE DOG SPENDS TIME IN THE HOUSE YOU WILL DEFINITELY HAVE FLEAS IN THE HOUSE.
