This would probably be in answer to Roya's (very good) question, but I have no more answering space :O so I'm asking this question- why do religious people/believers in the afterlife not think that this world is enough? Sure, there is suffering and there is pain and unexplained things, but look at how intricate everything is! Look at tiny, thin cobwebs, dew in grass, the mess on a child's bedroom floor, look at how ridiculous everything is and laugh about it, how wonderful the human brain is, how we can create things, the tininess of fingerprints, genuine smiles... And so much more.

The best I can do about people less fortunate is help them out by volunteer work and give money to charity. But I do all I can. I don't truly believe there's anything else.

But, that said, I love this world and I am glad to be a part of it, afterlife or no afterlife.

What question was this? I've yet to see Roya ask even a halfway decent question, let alone a "very good" one.

there is nothing wrong with the scientific method which is not biased toaward or against faith. Lord Bacon, champion and pioneer of the scietific method was a theist... it is not the same TODAY

TODAY where what is often labels 'science' is wed with naturaliastic (a religious world view) assumptions... philosophical naturalism + the data So the problem TODAY is the comitment to the prior assumptions you bring before looking at the data... naturalistic sciece has a TON of it's own religious baggage where because they have by assumption discarded God working in the world... look at the evidence and see ... surprize surprize...evidence of naturalism Many of them don't realize it is the asumptions not the data that led to that conclusion

What, if anything, is wrong with it? it is denying God the glory due Him and people made in God's image are happiest when relfecting God;s glory back to God... additionaly if the reality is after this life you go to live with God as part of His family OR are seperated from God forever worse than a homeless person... then it is indeed concequential

I also get a great deal of enjoyment out of all the little things in life. I can watch a caterpillar forever. I want to make this life count for all that I can, and try to live each day to the fullest.

So why look forward to an afterlife?

I can only say that in receiving a hint of the power of God’s love through the Spirit, I can’t help but want more. I suppose it’s only something you can understand after experiencing God’s love.

Science is wonderful.

It has brought us many amazing things that have made our lives much better.

But it is only a tool.

To use that tool properly, we need *wisdom* which is trans-scientific.

Only right religion and a right relationship with God can give us that wisdom.

It was a serious error of the so called Enlightenment that man can better himself by reason alone.

Reason alone leads to the brier patch and the outer darkness, since reason needs a guide higher than itself, so that man does not destroy himself.

Man by himself, is an insufficient guide.

He who guides himself has a fool for a guide.

Science is great. In the book "The Signature of God" by Grant Jeffrey he provides a ton of scientific back-up to prove the bible true.

As for the human brain, it has 120 billion cells and 130 trillion chemical/electronic connections. Science didn't create this, God did.

well, i'm Christian, and i believe in science. i like science. some of it is lies, but not all. you say that you love the life on earth. well, imagine life in heaven! you cant, it's too much for a human to imagine...for any human. i'm not depressed, or wishing i could die, or walking aroung with my head down, wishing i was in heaven. i'm happy on earth, and i will go to heaven. right now, i'm satisfied with the earth for that is how God created it. but heaven will be much better. do yourself a favor. turn to Jesus, and ask for forgiveness, for my belief isn't just a religion. it's a relationship with my Savior.
