To wilfully sin against God is a vastly much greater offence than to sin against man. It is a sin of infinite proportion.
You do not have the proper or right appreciation of Who God is.
His absolute perfection, goodness and love, His absolute holiness , righteousness and purity. His wisdom and beauty. His infinite knowledge and prescence and power. How can you not love, and how can you reject such a wonderful, glorious Being ???
All your life and benefits, all your happiness, all you need to live, besides the opportunity to know Him and to live forever in His favour and prescence is given to you by His kindness and what do you return to Him ? - Not love, with all your heart and soul and mind, as would be only reasonable, but that you think you know better than Him ???
Phew !
Such self righteousness.
The infinitely loving, and pure, and blameless Saviour died, under the full weight of God's righteous wrath, to deliver you from that wrath and from that self righteousness.
And rose again for our justification. But you think you are right to question Him. Has He not earned the right to choose ? What have you earnt ?
How unutterably sad that you cannot see your need and the need of all, of every single one of us.
You speak of someone being good ! So you, with all your vileness, of which you are obviously ignorant, presume to judge God ? ? ? You are clearly far from knowing the true state of your own heart and of any human heart. There is no good person apart from what God gives. What, do you not know that what you have is not yours but is given to you of God ?
Do you not see that a, "really good person all his life," would love God with all his heart and soul and mind and being ? Who decides who is a really good person ? You ? Is your wisdom and knowledge and perception greater than God's ? Can you weigh the motives and secrets of the heart more finely and accurately than God ? Do you think that you know better than the Almighty ?
Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right ? Who are you to reply against God ? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why have you made me so ?
Do you despise God for His goodness to some ?
The salvation of any one sinner shows forth the praise and riches of His glory and the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward that sinner. Even if I am lost that remains true and I should glorify and praise Him for it.
"No faith, no heaven, fair enough." God does not deal fairly with us , else we should all be instantly and rightly consigned to hell, every one. He deals with infinite mercy and grace, His forbearance and longsuffering are extreme. Even faith is a gift generously given to the supremely undeserving. - And you say, "fair enough" ! ! !
Phew !
Such ignorance and arrogance and unthankfulness.
Sin is made to appear sin by working in me through that which is good and is made exceeding sinful.
We are all utterly sinful, absolutely degenerate, it is only God's grace to us that makes us to differ, that holds us back from absolute depravity. Do you think you are better because of your own goodness? Perhaps as the Pharisee praying to himself, ' I thank you Lord that I am not as other men ' ??
You ask if that is "REALLY what the Bible teaches."
The Bible is a dead book to those without life, until the Holy Spirit quickens and brings conviction of sin.
God in His infinite love and mercy tells us in the Bible of our most miserable estate that we might be awakened, brought to see our desperate condition and need and seek Him for His gracious help and perfect provision for us in Jesus Christ.
Do you think that Christ would have died and suffered our deserved punishment in our place if there were any other way ? He twice prayed to the Father that if it were possible that cup should be removed from Him, nevertheless not His will but the Father's. I say again, do you not think he has earned the right to decide ? May He not, with His own blood and sufferings, choose whom He will without you finding fault ?
But men will have it not. Men think they know better. Men reject their only hope.
What more could He do for us than He already has ? But rather do men criticise Him and pretend He is telling lies and tell Him what He should do, though it be quite impossible. They always know better than God Himself, and unless God pleases them and what they think they will reject Him. They will say He doesn't exist and it is all fairy tales.
They say, is it really what the Bible teaches?
How sad. How piteously sad.

How does anyone know who goes to heaven and who doesn't? How do we know there really is a heaven? Some say we're living in heaven while here on earth? Some of us are concerned about the so call baby-murderers. Yet the majority of us have never given a dime to help feed the children in the world who are dying because they have not enough food to eat. Most of the Bible is left to interpretation. Isn't it true that many "white" supremest groups hate other races because of how they interpret the Bible?

With God, the past is the past.
When you ask for forgiveness and accept Christ into your life,
The past is gone in God's eyes. You do however have to be sincere and God can read your heart and he knows for sure.
I believe that there will be a lot of surprised people at the day of judgment.
God does forgive any sin! I also believe a sin (no matter what size) is a sin. When a person becomes a Christian, God does not see the old sins that were in your life. He will see any new ones. You can ask for forgiveness, but you best be honest and sincere about it.
Read Romans in your Bible, it should guide you through this.

The Bible teaches me that we all must do two things: Love God, completely, totally. And love God's creatures, including most specifically human beings, and NEIGHBORS. And who is my neighbour? There, you have the parable of the good Samaritan. This is where you really find what the Bible teaches: Samaritans were considered to be the lowest of the low, not any good, and certainly not anyone a good citizen should associate with. And yet, through his actions, that Samaritan was much more likely to go to heaven than the priests, etc. who passed by the needy man.
There is also that spot in the New Testament where Jesus was quizzed about his interpretation of the law by the priests. They asked him, what is the most important commandment of God? And he answered them with the Jewish law: that a person must love God with all his heart, etc. But before anyone could take a breath, he added, "And the second is like unto it." Love your neighbour as yourself. The juxtaposition of these two commandments tells me that God really does care how a person behaves. If your baby-killer really did become a good Christian, and therefore made sure that he did not allow anyone else to do such a crime, then, yes, Kingdom of Heaven. Look at the life of Saul/Paul. But if a person does not believe in God, and yet follows this commandment, then surely his actions will be his salvation. Actions speak louder than words.

I have a perfectly reasonable answer for that.
As a little girl (and now), I have been told that if your a very evil person, but believe in God and go to church every Sunday, God will forgive you and send you to Heaven when the time comes. If you do not believe in God and do not go to church every Sunday, then you are sent to Hell. I know, this is very confusing, but I'll explain why in just a moment:
God forgives you for everything you have done wrong, no matter how bad it is, or the consequences; as long as you go to church right after you did your mistake (which is why they created confession rooms). However, it's different if you are an innocent person, but do not go to church; it's considered a sin in other words. Technically, an "innocent" person is actually doing something wrong, because they aren't really obeying God the way they should.

If somebody doesn't believe in God, they will not go to heaven. If someone believes in God, but doesn't believe in, and accept Jesus Christ, the Son of God, they will not go to Heaven. Jesus says, The only way to heaven is through me.
I find it very hard to understand why God would choose a rapist or murderer turned Christian to go to Heaven, but thats what makes Him God, and me human. To sin human, to forgive, divine.

If the ex murderer really repents for his sin and asks god for forgiveness we are told you can get to heaven.
However if you are a good person I find it abit hard to believe you dont think there is no god. man chooses to accept god or not accept god. If man did not sin so much as our father god tried to teach us to do think of the peace there would be on this earth. for eg No sex before marriage, less sexual infections, less problems with HIV, the list is endless.
It is easy for man to judge but one day there will come judgement day and everyone will be judged for the bad things they have done even the baby murderer. However youcan't be really sure he even went to heaven as noone has ever told us. Amen

because the same root of sin that is in the murderer is in every "good" person. Just because the so called' good' person had or did not have the same opportunities as the murderer, had more self control, etc (not that these are good excuses to kill) just that same pride, selfishness, anger, bitterness ,etc dwells in ALL of us, there is none good, we ALL fall short of the glory of God. We all have sinful thoughts that lead to sinful actions. What exactly would make you better or more worthy than a murderer?
It is not just a belief in God that allows one into heaven, the demons believe and they tremble. The key to heaven is that your sinful nature, the very root of what caused the murderer to kill in the first place, the very sin nature that is in all of us, is cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ.
Receiving His sacrifice on the cross, knowing that we are not worthy but He is and in Christ we are made clean, holy, pure and sanctified is how we enjoy eternal life. We look at the outside but God looks at the heart.
The murder is just a symptom of what is on the inside- like a disease, someone that has HIV and someone that has full blown AIDS- the HIV person may look completely healthy while the AIDS person is on their deathbed- they are both afflicted with the same root disease, they are both headed for the same destination, they are both contagious- looking at one , you could point out the obvious differences and be more likel to have contact and sympathy for one over the other but looking deeper inside they are both the same- what comes out in the physical is just a symptom.
No sinful flesh enters heaven- does not matter how bad or "full blown" the sin is- sin is sin and if you are guilty of breaking one law, you are guilty of the whole law. Man puts value , numbers on sin and good deeds- this is just another way of playing the "earn your way to heaven" game. None of us can earn it- we all get in the same way- cleansed but the spotless blood of the lamb, cleansed from that sinful nature that manifests in the flesh in many many different ways but is sinful all the same.

Read "Rational Spirituality" available on the Dhaxem website. You will get a picture of what Christ taught, and not what the authors of the bible wrote 325 yeas after his life, and edited 1000 timse, since, to make it politically inobjectionable. "Rational Spirituality" is written in the language of the 21st Century, and is entirely logical and lucid. Only conveyed in February 2006, it is already a major force amongst those who have Christ in their hearts, and genuinely seek the Truth.

Being a good person doesn't get anybody into Heaven. Jesus said that you have to be saved. God is a forgiving God. Jesus went to the cross and died for our sins. All we have to do is accept Him as our Savior. It doesn't matter what sins you have commited, if you repent of those sins and ask Jesus to come into your heart, you will be saved.
John 3:3 ....."Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God".
Gods love is amazing. once you are saved, your always saved. The Bible says that ye are sealed and God cannot lie.
Ephesians 4:30 "And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption".

There is no such thing as a good person. You need to open your eyes and realize that all of us are evil at different levels.
What you describe of the "good person" is called self righteousness which is the biggest sin of all. That says, "I don't need God in my life to be good". That is a lie and a deception of satan.
Is that "good person" sin free? Has he/she ever lied, stolen, cheated, fornicated, commited adultery, gossiped, lusted? The answer is yes to probably more than one of those. So, no-one is innocent in the eyes of God.
Society has led us to believe that God has a point system. If you're more good than bad, then you get to go to heaven. But, that's man's rules, not God's. Getting to heaven is not about being more good than bad, but following God's Word.
What standards are you using to judge "good"? Your own? Hitlers? Governments? Bin Ladens? Your grandmothers?
Do you consider a doctor who takes care of his family and sends money to charity good, even though he is an abortion doctor?
Do you consider people like Madonna good even though she mocks Jesus every chance she gets?
Do you consider your average Joe good, even though he watches porn, gets drunk with his friends and has a foul mouth?
Do you consider Brittany Spears good even though she preaches to children to have sex?
Obviously you're not using God's standards to judge good because He says that nobody is good.
I'm glad that God allows anyone into heaven. If He didn't, none of us would make it. All you have to do is believe and follow.
You are condemning yourself by the way. God will judge you by your standards of good that you have set for yourself and others. I seriously doubt that you can live up to even your own standards. Without forgiveness, you will be condemned. So, keep that attitude and you will find out what true judgment is when you are face to face with God. There is no appealate system in God's court.
