I'd say it's the same as being a theist. You're so positive that what you believe(or do not believe),is so that the constant reminder from others who disagree gets tiresome. You're constantly told that what you feel is wrong even when you do not press these ideologies on others.
There are no real down sides. An atheist seeks purpose in life in tangible pursuits, not spiritual. That's not to say an atheist has no spirit, just not in the whimsical sense of the word.Spirit is a self defining term that has different meaning, both figurative and literal.I see no down side.

People choose the way they believe for any number of reasons. I am too scientific minded to be anything else. That does not mean that I believe all scientists are athiests. But when I look at the problems that organized religions have caused all in the name of god, it is a little off-putting. Tell me one war that was not fought in the name of religion. OK maybe there was 1 or 2. To be an athiest is to be free of all the crap that organized religion teaches. I don't go around trying to push my beliefs down someone elses throat. There is notheng "worst" about being an athiest.

The worst thing about being Atheist is when people find out ,they treat you like a Leper.
I am the same person I was before you found out ,but now I am talked about and shunned by some of my so called Religious friends .
I guess they are only your friends if you agree with them all the time about invisible gods .

The fact that most Christians cant seem to accept that atheists can have morals and be good people. I am an atheist, yet I still manage to be a much better person than several so called Christians that I know.

The worst and best thing about being an atheist is not having an unreason get-out clause we can use to dodge questions and arguments the way theists always do.

The worst thing would be being treated with suspicion and hostility by some Christians. But I can take it. I concentrate on trying to make sure I don't treat anyone with the same disdain.

I genuinely can't think of anything bad about being an atheist, unless it's feeling sorry for religious believers.

nothing....well almost nothing.

well...theres a stigma with claiming to be an atheist. in hollywood if you clai mto be an atheist (and arent already successful) youll never be successful. the only bad thing about it is that people look down on you. people treat you like crap, people even go as far as to hate you....all because we refuse to accept fairy tale as fact.

crazy, huh?
