Contact GRAVES REGISTRATION with all relevant service details you have and they will tell you

If you know what branch of service he/she was in, they will have records. You can find further info from the leads in those records; check with the local newspapers from his hometown, also. (a computer search will save time there, just type in his town, then look at the links, one should be for the newspaper)

Try a search for "military records" or something similar, might be able to find some info that way.
