Hint: On the bottle of Bactine it tells you not to use it on puncture wounds. Haha.
Taken from their site:
"We cannot recommend that Bactine be used for this purpose since body piercings are considered puncture wounds. Consumers should consult their doctor for treatment of such wounds."
While we're at it, avoid rubbing alcohol, peroxide, epsom salt and neosporin. They will not help in healing, but they will make it worse.
What you should do is stop with the Bactine now and go back to cleaning it as if it was a new piercing. That means twice daily was the area with antibacterial Dial and use sea salt soaks two or three times a day. Don't play with it, don't touch it unless you are cleaning it. As long as you are careful from here on out, it should be healed up and find in 3-4 months.
Also keep an eye out of the piercing to migrate, trauma like that can cause the jewelry to shift.

I had my belly button peirced 10 yrs ago and just recently ( about a yr ago) took it out. I too had the same problem. You can buy this product over the counter. It is called Hybaclens. I hope I spelled that right. Also If you get some A & D ointment and put a little on the bar it will help it slide throught o move it. Make sure you keep it clean and use the hybaclens. It comes in a greenish blue bottle and you buy it at Wal Mart or any other pharmacy.

stop utilizing peroxide and lotions. Peroxide is only too harsh and kills reliable micro organism it fairly is neccesary for the piercing to authentic heal. lotions suffocate the piercing and catch micro organism around the piercing. stop utilizing each and everything you're utilizing in the present day. as a results of harsh and irrelevant products you're utilizing in the present day, your piercing is showing an infection-like symptons. extremely, use a million cup warmth distilled/bottled water with a million/4 tsp non-iodized sea salt. Take a small paper cup and soak the piercing for 5-10 minutes 2-3x an afternoon. Rinse with sparkling water and pat dry with a paper towel. also, in case you want you should use a unscented, uncolored anti-bacterial cleansing soap. make constructive now to not sparkling better than 2 or 3 cases an afternoon. reliable good fortune~

The BEST thing u can do is ask ur doctor to give u antibiotics and this will help the healing faster. the pus will go away and the irritation will heal faster. change ur bar to a gold one, just ask the person who did ur piercing to help you with that. U will see ur bellly button healed right away. use also a antibiotic while keeping it clean .

I got mine pierced about 6 months ago, and every now and then it gets infected...The parlor where I got it pierced reccomended using this spray called H2Ocean...it is a salt-water spray that you do not have to wash off. I don't know if you are still soaking it with sea salt baths daily, but either the spray (H2ocean) or salt baths improve circulation to the area and help it heal faster. The spray is more convenient though and can be used anytime. ALSO, make sure you are still washing it 2x daily with antibacterial soap.......and drying it with paper products...
Good luck with the healing process!!!

Ouch! What I've done is clean it well with rubbing alcohol every day, keep it clean and free of snags. Mine was ripped clean through the opening, ball and all. I have got to change this dangly one to a ring or bar. But that was 3 weeks ago and it's totally fine now!

Oh god, DON'T use bactine, that's the WORST you can do. Use salted pure (boiled and cooled) water to clean it, none of those harsh anti-bacterials or peroxide...
