Not that I know of. I take it for biplolar disorder, and has to be the most side effect free drug I have taken. You may want to point out to your friend that as well as running the risk of Stevens Johnson Syndrome (a fatal rash) from starting at too high a dose of Lamictal, he runs the risk of epileptic seizures when he stops taking it.

This really is not a med to mess with.

Lamictal doesn't make you high, not at all. It's designed to stabilize someone's mood, thus preventing excessive highs and lows. For any of the mood stabilizers (anticonvulsants), you'll get hit hard initially and feel a little warn out until you get used to them and the side effects dicipate.

Lamictal is a super complex drug, where you would need to be monitored by a Dr. and it would take 1 - 2 months for them to get the proper titration rate.

Tell your friend that one of the side effects for Lamictal is a life threatening rash. That's right, you can die with a rash, very painful. It's highly unlikely that this will happen to someone that's under a Dr's supervision. However, if you're not being monitored by a Dr. you'll put yourself through hell - again, this is due to the complex metabolism of Lamictal, where taken at the wrong dosage, will cause problems.

Tell your friend to leave the psychotropic drugs alone and to find something else to do with his or her time instead of trying to get high on "stuff"

Geez!

Lamictal is a mood stabilizer and antiseizure med. I take it and I can't imagine getting a "high" from it. I would be more concerned about the person abusing it. It is a dangerous drug and can be lethal if not taken properly. If the person starts getting a rash for no known reason, better get them to the ER if there is time!

I am currently taking Lamictal and I have been on it for 9 months now and it does not make me feel high. I take it for bipolar disorder and it does help with my mood. Is this person taking any other medications with Lamictal that they maybe abusing? Maybe it could be a combination of medication that this person is taking that is making them feel high.
