Endoscopy is a minimally-invasive diagnostic medical procedure used to evaluate the interior surfaces of an organ by inserting a small tube into the body, often, but not necessarily, through a natural body opening. Through the scope one is able to see lesions and other surface conditions.

The instrument may have a rigid or a flexible tube and not only provide an image, for visual inspection and photography, but also enable retrieval of foreign objects.

hope this helped :)

Many endoscopic procedures are relatively painless and, at worst, associated with mild discomfort although patients are sedated for most procedures. Complications are rare.

celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder of the small bowel that occurs in all ages. basically, the lining of the small intestine flattens, interfering with the absorption of nutrients. Common symptoms are diarrhoea, weight loss (or stunted growth in children) and fatigue. The only treatment is a special gluten free diet.

Endoscopies can help with the diagnosis of Celiac's because the doctors take samples from different parts of the intestine to see what part is affected.

The instrument may have a rigid or a flexible tube and not only provide an image, for visual inspection and photography, but also enable taking biopsies and retrieval of foreign objects. Endoscopy is the vehicle for minimally invasive surgery.

Many endoscopic procedures are relatively painless and, at worst, associated with mild discomfort although patients are sedated for most procedures. Complications are rare (only 5% of all operations) but can include perforation of the organ under inspection with the endoscope or biopsy instrument. If that occurs open surgery may be required to repair the injury

You could have an intestinal problem....basically you can't eat certain kinds of grains (like barley). (They have to be 'gluten-free'). Look it up on line. - Endoscopy is just a procedure where a thin tube (with a camera on the end) goes down your throat (you won't know what's going on) and into your stomach so they can look at some organs to see if they can see a problem.

I wouldn't imagine it's any different for a child than for an adult - except maybe a different size tube.

Same type of mecanism like a gastroscopy where you swallow a camera and they look into you stomach or a colonoscopy where they insert the camera in your behind. But where the "endo" part sits, I have no idea! Celiac is when there is an intolorance to Gliadinin.
