I have had this problem before. I usually clean the hair, appying a carrot oil conditoner on afterward, which keeps the hair soft and manageble, while also instilling moisture and nutrients. It's probably best that you leave the conditoner in for awhile to somewhat weigh the hair down so you do not fluff when the weather changes. You could use a ceramic dryer (i.e. Revlon) to blow and brush the hair straight, making the new growth less noticable. The instrument also seals in moisture, just use a heat protector. Make sure to keep regular trims (every 6 weeks) if you can, to prevent the new growth from splitting and breaking. And MINIMALLY PROCESS. If you dye your hair or use any harsh chemicals on it, you should probably give those a break until your hair reaches it's full potential. Hope my answer was of some help.

I have read quite a bit on that topic, and two come to mind:
L'anza treatments
Joico K-pak
Remember, a protein reconstructor is not a conditioner. After a protein reconstructor, you need to deep-condition. It will probably take a while to get it back into shape.

I think it is called love potion number 9 or something. I might be wrong. My girlfriend used it when she had damaged hair. It might work for you.
