i do not have children but 3 younger siblings and a firefighter dad. if he gets overtime or is called in, he can be gone for 5 days at a time. with my little sister (3) and brother (5) they fight alot and cause my mom stress. my other brother (11) and i also get into arguments and my mom always can not wait for my dad to get home. when he is gone, we all miss him so much. every time we get to talk to him on the phone, we fight over who gets to talk first or last. when he comes home the two youngest nearly topple him over and grab onto his leg so he "cant ever leave agian" i usually just hug him and then he asks me for a back massage haha but i am still always glad wen he gets home because things always seem to cool down and my mom can relax!

My daughter runs to the door, opens it, and about knocks her dad over. As soon as she hears the car pull up in the driveway she starts screaming "daddy's home" and gets all excited. He doesn't always bring her treats but occasionally she gets a snack or toy, usually on Fridays. He works until 8 every night and then it's a 30 min. commute so she tries to stay up for him.
She stays with her grandma some nights(when I have to work) and my step father works the breakfast shift at a Cracker Barrel. He comes home around 10-11 and she gets a donut every time. He gives her a donut because every time his grandfather came over when he was a child, he brought a donut for my step father. That was the best memory that he has of his grandfather and he wants to do the same for my daughter.

My husband works 3rd shift so when he gets home in the morning my 2 year old is usually having cuddle time on the sofa with me watching cartoons. As soon as he hears the door open, he jumps off my lap squealing "daddy's home, daddy's home". My husband always gives him his lunch box that always has a treat left for the 2 year old.

We're farmers, so I'm lucky in that he comes home for morning, afternoon teas, and lunch- and every time my 1yr old toddles to the front door....."dadadadadad"-ing all the way. he loves to see dad anytime and i just think they get a bit over being stuck with mum!!! He doesn't have any special treats or anything, just his company---sometimes i think too that kids must pick up on our relief after a hard day when our man gets home.

My boyfriend is a security guard and when he works from midnight to 8 am my son loves it when his daddy walks him to school in the mornings. lol My boyfriend is not my sons biological father but treats my son like he is. I think its their special time together that makes my son love his morning walks with daddy so much.
