I am having a horrible time with anxiety. (I'm waiting for blood tests to come back in two weeks.) Sleepless nights, heart palps, racing mind, headaches, and worst of all... difficulty concentrating. I have SO much homework to do! I don't want this to affect my grades. How can I over come this???

It is the stress from waiting for the blood tests (I am afraid the results will not be good) combined with all of my school work that is causing my anxiety. Just to clarify.

I have this problem. Because I'm an Epileptic I can't take any tablets for it so I turned to meditation. 90% of the time it works and that 10% I put myself to bed and have half an hours sleep and it goes away.
Also try concentrating your mind on something else.. Lie down in a dark room, breath deeply and concentrate on something in your mind. I use the Poem by Rudyard Kipling IF. I say it to myself again and again until either I fall asleep or I get so relaxed the anxiety goes away. I so sympathise with you. take care X

For now perhaps your doctor could give you a mild drug for your anxiety like clonazepam. It is long acting, up to 8 hours and not as addictive as other meds. You seem to be very overwhelmed. Try to plan out everything that you have to do and tackle one thing at a time. Try to slow down and take time to relax. Getting some exercise will also help to calm you. Good luck!!

What do the blood tests have to do with anxiety? The best thing you can do for anxiety is to discover the source and deal with that by using stress management techniques. You can go online to stress management and find a source, I'm sure.

didnt the doctor give you anything for your racing mind, headaches, sleepless nights etc...did you describe all of that to the doctor. While waiting on the blood test he could have prescribed you something such a low dose of Xanax.

Hi there, I just laugh about my past 3 years of panic now. I was not able to go anywhere without carrying xanax. Fear of having another attack was the most important subject of my days. When i first found joe barry's web site i started to cry because of my happiness.

Relax you are so stressed up tell your doctor exactly how you feel and that you need help, but not tranquilizers, you need someone to talk to, and confide in. Probably you are expecting too much of yourself and are frightened you will not make the grades you have set yourself, but dont make yourself ill over it, it is honestly not worth it. Hope you feel better soon, good luck.

If its not too cold, try a little outdoor meditation, try to get your mind on something besides your stressors
soothing background music may also help you relax and concentrate
the scent of vanilla is also relaxing
