THANK YOU! And" pagans" have killed more humans than any "organized" religion ever
did, because they have been around longer? And don't give me that "recorded
history" is only 10,000 years old. That is just as ignorant as the "world" is only 6000 years old. And pagans have destroyed any knowledge that disagreed with them, the same as all humans try to do!

Say WHAT??!!! Please tell me where you get your facts. How do you think that pagans killed more where did you get that idea? I dont believe you have any real facts just a bunch of bs you made up in your head. Pagans have not destroyed any knowledge in fact most of the pagan knowledge was destroyed by Christians who didnt want the people to rever the pagans. If you have any real proof well .....prove it!

Pagans went to war with other civilizations, true. A great example would be Native Americans: they fought over land, food, and other survival necessities - just as wild animals do instinctually (it’s called “survival of the fittest”).

And, while Pagans have undoubtedly been INVOLVED in war over religion, they have never STARTED a war over religion - not unanimously as a community. Just like how Christian extremists and Muslim extremists have raged religious war on others, doesn't mean they speak for the whole religion - just ask another Christian or Muslim. If you think you know otherwise, I'd like to see some kind of historical record of it. As you suggested, if "recorded history" is not "only 10,000 years old," then cough up some proof if you've got a reason to refute anything here.

And Pagans never destroyed knowledge that disagreed with them - not because of it, anyway. Perhaps some Pagan cultures who wiped out other Pagan cultures over means of survival like I mentioned before, and that would certainly wipe out the knowledge of whatever tradition the lost culture would have had, but there were never any books to burn or written records to cover up - Pagan tradition is passed down by word of mouth and by shared experience and tradition. Anything that has been written or left as evidence of ancient Pagan faith has literally been in stone. As a Native American woman once explained, "If you take [a copy of] the Christian Bible and put it out in the wind and the rain, soon the paper on which the words are printed will disintegrate and the words will be gone. Our bible IS the wind and the rain."

And while we may not blindly accept that other religions have "the only truth," we're humble enough to know that we don't have it either. No one has all the answers, sweetie.

Do us all a favor - and I mean all of us, not just the Pagans - LEARN about something before you spout your mouth off about it.

Blessed be. )O(

Paganism is not a single religion, but a classification of religions, a "catch-all bin" used to refer to non-Abrahamic religions. There were Pagan religions prior to Christianity (though, of course, they weren't called that *until* Christianity, so you can make an argument that Paganism isn't older than Christianity. It's splitting hairs, but....)

Age aside, few modern Pagans will consider their religion to be "the one and true religion" - at least, in a universal sense. They *may* consider it to be the one and true one for themselves, which is different.

While there certainly were wars among various ancient Pagans (such as the Celts sacking Rome), there's a difference between two countries waging war, and a religous-based pogrom - of which, there appears to be very little evidence of prior to the rise of exclusivist monotheism.

Paganism are the oldest standing religionS. It is not One religion, it is many cultural religions. And Recorded History is only 10,000 yrs old... please provide proof of ANY writings before 10,000 yrs ago. I would love to see it, as I really enjoy studying such things. (Not even China has writings this old... they only lay claims to ancient writings, but even theirs are copies of copies) But the most I have found that is anything older than 10,000 yrs ago are cave drawings, are you considering that Recorded History? As for Pagans destroying ANY knowledge, I would really like to see this evidence as well. True, some Pagan cultures have done their fair share of destruction... but, if you did any kind of Real study, you would know the word Pagan was not used as a religious term, it means common person/peasant/HICK. It was not used as a religious term till the late 1800's. Again, I would love to see evidence otherwise... it would then lend more validity to Wicca than anything that is offered now.

To say something is ignorant leads one to believe that you know more than they do.... then you should be able to back this up without ANY problem.

besides the undeniable fact that religions began (and that i have printed stuff about that the following in this communicate board formerly), We Pagans ourselves will inform you that there's no "purely authentic faith". because the Divine is *take position* contained in the organic international, we may be able to study about the Divine from observing that organic international. that is the familiar source of our know-how, and the reason that Wiccans (and Pagans, typically) can't declare to understand the "one truth" or "one good way" - for purely as there's no human being good thanks to be a flower or tree or canines or fowl or rock or cloud, there's no human being good thanks to adventure the Divine or have a courting with It. So, then, what's a valid faith? IMO, what provides a faith validity is that if it evokes that is followers to practice functional, utilized, impersonal compassion.

I'd also like to point out that pagans are human too. And so what if they persecuted non-believers? Just about every religion in existence has done it at some point. I was raised Catholic and I wouldn't sugar-coat my religion. The truth is the truth.

Neopagans do not generally call their religion the "true religion," i.e. the one and only true religion. Most know that no religion has a monopoly on Truth and that no one religion is for everyone.

Oh dear. This is the reason religious fanatics are rife. You simply twist and turn events in your own heads to make your argument seem plausible. Unfortuantely, no religious fanatic has ever been able to do it eloquently enough that their point is proven. As in your case.
