The rule is to figure about 1 lb per person. If you want any leftovers for sandwiches the next day, or are going to let any of your guests take any home with them, then I would get a 15-18 lbd bird. If you want to make this for one day only, personally I think I would get a 15 lb bird anyway. The smaller the weight the bird is, the more the bone weight is. Happy Thanksgiving!

You need to buy a 12-14 pound Turkey.

ALLOT 1lb. per person. See chart below link to determine the appropriate size turkey for your family gathering.

Standard serving size is 4 oz, generous serving is 8 oz per head

I would recommend a 12-15 lb bird!

Also figure in how many side dishes,entres,deserts, if a person can eat 1lb of turkey, and 3lbs of sides, 4lbs intake. thats alotta food considering a Big Mac weighs less than a 1lb.

the proper calculation is figure 1 lb per person if you want leftovers then I would estimate 1 1/2 lbs per person depending on how much you want left over so I would say 15 - 17 lbs would be a good size.

you are supposed to figure a pound a person. so 12 lbs. but just to be safe go with 13

probably 20-24 pounds we use a 20 pound for 8 and it all depends on how much they eat i mean we always have left overs

1lb per person is good, but get a bigger bird if you want leftovers.
