Hi Cheryl,
Well done for giving up smoking cigarettes, weed, and drinking alcohol.
When I first tried to loose weight I went to Jenny Craig and found that useless. All it taught me to do was think about food. Breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, diner, after diner snack. I think you get the picture.
I tried diet books but again all you seem to do is think about food and that's the last thing I wanted to think about. That's how I but weight on in the first place.
My husband and I were planning on selling our house but it needed a bit of work done on it, like the walls needed painting. Instead of paying someone to do the work I decided to do it myself. As I got stuck into it, I forgot all about food. I only ate because I had to. I drank plenty of water, but not with my food. If you drink water when you are eating it dilutes your stomach acids then your food doesn’t digest properly.
Try to keep yourself busy like I did so you don't think about food. Even if it means you start painting rooms like I did.
If you are eating meat with salad or vegetables, it’s important to eat the meat first so the stomach acids can break down the meat and not waist your stomach acids on the vegetables.
The other thing I did was to eat food with chili in it. Chili increases your metabolism. Instead of driving to the supermarket I walked. If I had a large shopping load I got it home delivered. Not only did lose 26kg (around 56 pounds) but I got very fit.
Kind regards from Noelene

Well.... it's just another 'habit'.....you replace it with a healthy hobby - even knitting, walking, or attend a craft workshop and make your Xmas gifts. I find I don't get hungry when I'm busy.
There are a few things you can do to help you.....
Don't eat starchy carbs OR SUGAR!!!!, donuts, doritos, etc (no fair getting hungry, now!!!). I don't think I've had a donut in 20 years..... just 'out of my life'.... not even tempted.
Try to stay with lean protein. Cook a chicken, cut it up and keep it in the frig to nibble - NO STARCH OR SUGAR when your eating.
Protein is very filling - and actually will deter getting hungry.
Keep in mind that Sugar = getting hungry..... sugar is not only food with sugar but also, 'starch'. (pasta, potatos, rice)
I find Suzanne Somers (somercizing) an awsome way to eat - I've been doing it for about 10 years - very -very healthy and keeps weight down to a low roar....
Just a few base rules
1) fruit on an empty stomach (preferably in the morning)... no food for one hour.
2) IF you eat carbs, like cereal - NO FAT... use skim milk
3) IF you eat protein - like eggs & sausage, NO BREAD
Wait at least 2 hours before you eat a carb meal or a protein meal.
With just these couple of modifications, weight WILL come off, pretty quickly - and you will NOT be hungry. Cut carbs & sugar and you will NOT get hungry.... and remember - no soda.
Just do ONE small thing...... just cut sugar - and you will see a difference in your appetite.

Diets do not work. 99% of people gain the weight back. Here is how it works. No one teaches the animal what to eat and what not to eat. He knows instinctively what to eat. Humans also have the same instinct. The way it works is just eat whatever tastes good and that will be healthy for you and non-fattening. That is why a baby tastes everything. So again whatever tastes good, is good for you. This is why you will spit out spoiled milk.
But wait!!! Man has the technology to create rat poison. It tastes like healthy food (good taste) but kills the rat. So man has done that to you. Note- any food unaltered by man (uncooked) that tastes good, is good for you. So if you are stranded in the woods, that is how you know what to eat (cooking changes that). So man has created fake fruit. It tastes like fruit that exists in nature but it is terrrible for health, addictive and fattening called sweets.
So it is natural to like real sweets called fruit, like a baby does, but they have fooled you just like the rat. But they do not want to kill you. They want you to become obese so you will buy lots of their foods. This is called GOOD BUSINESS. Remember the above (not on site) and see site below to re-learn how to eat so you can be thin and fit for life.

First off...keep your house free of junk food. I know that's hard with kids, but you can buy Carmel rice cakes, or whole wheat crackers and top them with yogurt or peanut butter or cheese.
Keep lot's of fresh fruits and veggies on hand...kids will eat celery with peanut butter or ranch dressing and carrots too.
Also, avoid loads of carbs, like pasta and chips.
Changing your families eating habits will help a lot.
Good luck.

Talk to a therapist...that way you can vent about what's REALLY bothering you and why you feel you have to turn to smoking or eating to be happy. I've been there. Good luck!
