My mom was always the cook in the house. I think she only let me cook for the family a handful of times. And here it ended up being my career. Who knew?

My mom gets offended if you try to cook something for her in her kitchen because she loves cooking for others and goes all out. My family (my kids & boyfriend) loves visiting her because she does like a buffet for the meals (ex: breakfast = home made biscuits, gravy, scrambled eggs - unless you want specific & she usually knows what kind & how many you want, bacon, sausage, ham steaks, pancakes, waffles, rice, grits, toast, hashbrowns, OJ, coffee, milk)..... So I usually try to get her to go sit down some where - out of the kitchen - while I finish cleaning afterwards if she isn't yet done.

My oldest will offer to take me out to breakfast even though I don't eat before noon. My youngest 2 made me bowl of cereal, toast, banana, juice 4 years ago when I was sick with bad case of the flu... LOL... They were concerned because they heard it on the TV that a mother had passed away from the flu because she was too weak to fight it. I tell them they need to eat good foods to keep up their strength to grow & be healthy... One of my best memories of my kids.
