You are going to have to scrub every inch (tops, sides, etc) of that microwave with a pasty solution of baking soda and white vinegar or lemon juice, I think.
In the future, try not to use your microwave for melting candles 'cause:
1) The fragrances in candles are TOXIC and since they are oil based will cling to plastic such as the interior of your microwave
which is why you are having a hard time getting rid of the smell.
2) A microwave gets extremely hot--much too hot for candle wax to handle. You were very lucky that you didn't have a fire in your microwave. Melted plastic and insulation smell a lot worse than cinnamon!
3) The little clip which holds the wick in place in a candle is METAL, and metal can "arc" during microwaving and destroy your poor, unsuspecting, loyal little microwave.
All in all, I think you were lucky to get away with just a "stinky" microwave.
Next time you want to melt candles, PLEASE use a double boiler on the stove at really LOW heat and use just that kettle for candles. Don't use it for food again. I use an old coffee pot I found at a flea market and put it in a larger kettle that has water in the bottom when I want to get creative with candles.
I thought potpourri burners used scented oil rather than wax...? Did it work for you?
You can get FOOD GRADE cinnamon (clove, peppermint...) oil and mix it with a light salad oil (Canola, maybe) and make your own scented potpourri oil for a fraction of the cost of the stuff they sell in the fancy, schmancy "ye old giftee shoppes". Might be a gift idea...
Have fun, but please be careful!

you may attempt heating a bowl of water contained in the microwave for a couple of minutes to boil the water and fill it with steam, then wipe down the interior. If that doesn't artwork, attempt rubbing down the insides with vinegar - it smells undesirable at the starting up, yet in case you go away it open for a short even as the vinegary scent dissipates and that is going to get rid of the undesirable burnt scent. Baking soda is likewise a very good cleanser, yet do not use it with the vinegar or you'll purely get a chemistry mission.

Heres an all natural amazing quick fix for your problem. Take a coffee cup, put about 3 tablespoons of Apple viniger in it, turn the micro to 3min. when its done, carfully remove the vinigar, add a lil cold water to it and use it to wipe down the inside of your micro! it will shine like a diamond and smell like fresh air! It's really simple~ Hope this helps~effi

Try putting some baking soda in a bowl of water and then heating that for 2 min and let set for 4 min and remove . I saw this on T.V. If that doesn't work and usually it does -go to the grocery store and in the cleaning isle they have products just for odors in your micro wave. They are little pouches that burst open while heating.

You could try my mom's method for getting smells out of an ice chest: Wet a paper towel with vanilla extract and rub it all over the inside. The alcohol in the extract is supposed to do it. It couldn't make it worse, that's for sure.
(I like patrick's idea too.)

Try slicing a lemon in half, putting it in a small bowl of water and turn on full for a minute or so. I am not saying that it will work, but anythings worth a try. Good Luck

Warning: this is a smart alec answer to your question, but it would work.
Burn a bag of microwave popcorn in it. It took me FOREVER to get the burned popcorn smell to go away when I did this.
Good luck!
