It depends on what you're looking for. If you want to be an officer going to college first is almost always a requirement. If you're looking to get money for college it may be better to go into the Navy first. Talk to a recruiter but make sure that you get whatever they promise you in writing.

It really is dependant on if you need the help from the Navy to pay for college or not. They will pay for a part of your education.. The rules change sometimes on if and how you can become an officer. Say you go to college first and take ROTC classes, most likely you will get a commission but sometimes you won’t. If you are in school on an ROTC scholarship and loose it due to grades then you will not get a commission. However, if you apply for OCS (Officer Candidate School) and accepted you will go through a 13 week program. Not to scare you off but it is a hard program. At least it was when my husband went through it. While in OCS you will be receiving E-5 pay. Then once you Finnish you will get 01 pay. take a look at the Navy website listed below. It tells you want you might be looking for. Best of luck

If you go into the coast guard, or Air Force you could do both at the same time, since you'd be at shore a lot. You may be able to get shore duty in the Navy, but its a much slimer chance and trying to take classes while on a ship is too hard (I've tried). The reason I suggest this is that while on Active Duty, the military will pay 75% of tuition, plus you do both at the same time.

You can earn money to go to college if you join and serve in the Navy first. The only thing that you'll be investing in is your time and not your money. Whatever your decision...good luck, I wish you well.

Navy will pay for your college most likely. If you commit to 4 years or something they will cover your college education beforehand.

College first, then you can be an officer. Navy first, they'll pay for everything.
