Be honest and be true to your character... just talk to her. It's really not that hard. Say hi, ask her about her day, etc. But be wary that you don't spend too much time alone with her, especially if you only want to be friends and nothing more. Keep in groups, to avoid this.

Basically if you just want to be friends go up to her, and start a conversation. Introduce yourself, and tell her that she seems like an intresting person to meet. Ask her open-ended questions, and create some sort of intrest. At the end ask her if she wants to hang out or get her phone number if shes intrested in hanging out. Just act like you have no intenstions of going out with her, and don't be nervus - after all you just want to be friends ;-)

Just talk to her but make it clear you just want to be friends by not flirting and whatnot. I'm friends with one of my guy friends 'cos he made it clear he just wanted to be friends with me (which is fine by me 'cos he's uptight, lol) and we hang out, see movies and all that but just talk like friends and not like we're dating.
When I made friends with this one guy and he was starting to show an interest in me, I made sure he knew that I only wanted to be friends. I hear he still likes me but he respects that I dont want to date and we still hang out and have fun.

Try going up to her and saying, "Hi, my name is _____. What's yours?" If there's something going on wherever you are, or if you see something that indicates she likes something that you do, mention that. (For example a t-shirt with a band name on it, a notebook with a puppy on it, etc.) Express interest in her as a person (what she likes, what she doesn't, etc) and you've got a good start.

Explain to her that your just not into dating right now and you wouldnt want to ruin your friendship over a date that could possibly ruin your whole relationship with her. When you let her go just remember to be and nice and explain that you dont want to jeopardize your great friendship!
