I have a Hamilton Beach toaster oven and it does a pretty good job for a decent toaster oven but i was wondering if it can make things like lasagna or baked ziti. I've tried baking a cake and it works well if i do thin layers and add it together into layers. But now i'm wondering if i can make a whole lasagna meal? Thanks alot :)

Yes you can!

You would need to modify your recipe to fit in a dish that would fit inside the toaster oven though!

The answer is YES! The only thing to remember is that you have to just make a smaller portion. If you made your cake and it worked out, you should have no problem with anything else that you can think of to bake. Cooking for two is great using a toaster oven. Good luck!

It would depend on the required baking temperature and time. Those little toaster ovens can't take real high heat for very long.

Summertime Lasagna

prep: 25 min, cook: 25 min

· 6 c. sliced zucchini (about 1 3/4 lbs.)
· 1/2 lb. ground beef
· 1 sm. clove garlic, minced
· 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
· 1 tsp. salt
· 1/4 tsp. dried oregano leaves
· 1/4 tsp. dried basil leaves
· 1 c. sm.-curd cottage cheese
· 1 egg, beaten
· 1 tbsp. parsley flakes
· 1/4 c. dry bread crumbs
· 1 c. shredded Mozzarella cheese (4 oz.)

Directions:
Cook zucchini in boiling water in saucepan until tender-crisp, about 5 minutes. Drain. Cook ground beef and garlic in skillet until beef is browned, about 5 minutes. Stir tomato sauce, salt, oregano and basil into beef. Stir together cottage cheese, egg and parsley.

Layer as follows: Place half the zucchini in greased 8 inch square pan. Sprinkle with half of bread crumbs. Spread with half of cottage cheese mixture, then with half of beef mixture and half of Mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers, but reserve remaining Mozzarella cheese.

Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Sprinkle with remaining half of Mozzarella cheese. Return to toaster-oven just long enough to melt cheese, about 3 minutes.

I think you could make most anything in it. Just think small. If you are going to cook a 30 pound turkey in it, you would have to cut it up first and have a lot of patience.

Yeah, maybe a small meal for two. OR, precook and then reheat it later.
