Believe it or not, there have actually been at least 3 studies addressing this. The studies came up with different answers as to the number of licks: 252, 411, or 144.

I tried this when I was younger and had nothing better to do. It took 243 licks for me. However, since no two people would lick with the same pressure and tounge size may vary this is not a scientific answer.

LoL., My brother and I many moons ago used to actually lick the tootsie pops and count. Thanks for bringing back a fond memory. I don,t remember, its been that many moons ago.
