Most definately. You have the right to defend yourself, also shooting is a great sport, and to do well at it requires self discipline and concetration.
My choice of gun? Probably something by SIG in.45 and a Colt .380 Super.

I am blessed with some friends from the UK and they always send their friends visiting Texas to come see me and shoot my old Enfield and Martini Henry military rifles that span the British Empire infantry arms from the 1870s through WWII.
Even the ones who were not 'pro-gun' before our sessions walked away with a greater appreciation of gun ownership and especially the history behind these rifles that once ruled the world.
I think is a sad shame that loyal British subjects cannot own a firearm without an act of Parliment. After all, has it really stopped the criminals from getting a gun when they want one? No! Wasn't that the point?

Ask yourself a few questions real quick. (1). Would you take the life of a criminal or terrorist who posed an immediate threat to yourself or your loved ones? (2). would you use a weapon to threaten, intimidate, or kill for illegal profit, gain, or other selfish reasons? If you answered "yes" to one and "no" to two then it's unpatriotic of you not to own and familiarize yourself with a firearm. If you answered yes to two, you should not have your freedom, but you probably don't care about laws anyway.
Guns will always exist but once guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns. If you don't believe that look to Australia,s history as an example.

Bound's hubby here:
To each his own ... we all live with our choices.
As I remember it, in 1939 when Hitler went on his romp across Europe, England was disarmed and the Home Guard was unarmed. As Hitler became more of a threat, Britain turned to Americans to send them our extra shotguns, rifles, and binoculars. If it weren't for the Yanks and their guns, I do believe that the British would now be speaking German!
It is easy to criticize and condemn when one is not scrambling to protect their home or homeland!

Plasma rifle eh! Star Wars has a lot to answer for! If I moved to the states (the lobotomy took), I'd wouldn't buy a gun, but if they were being given out free I'd get a Tec9.

I guess if I was as ignorant as the majority of people answering here i would say no, there's a few of you brits who seem to have your head screwed on the right way, the one guy who wants to buy guns just to kill us yanks, well, as stupid as it sounds it would most likely shoot itself in the head, so no worrys there. I'll never understand why the brits so readily gave up their rights to legal gun ownership and bad mouth the Americans who cherish our gun rights. I guess some folks aren;t happy unless they're mad at something/someone. You don't see me going to the train stop restroom to knock the cocks out of your mouth while you're trying to have fun, why do you want to take my target rifles from me while I'm trying to have fun?

Berretta 9mm Para and a S&W 38 snub just in case. A Remington pump action shotgun for home protection as all you need to do is aim in the general direction. Practice alot and get the family involved, it`s a great way to bond and to meet other nice freedom loving folks.

Lets see what happens the next time the "s**t hits the fan" over there. The "silly Yanks" will be the first you Brits will look for to bail your sorry a**es out of a sticky wicket.

why do all Europeans and British think that all Americans have guns? Most of us do not, we just have the right to have a gun. That is one of our freedoms, but most of us do not exercise that freedom. If I were you, I would not buy a gun, because you would probably end up shooting yourself in the foot.

Probably. In a gun culture would you want to be the only one not armed?
