Although I study the Bible very extensively and believe the intended message of the Bible is good and true, I personally can very much understand why many people are apposed to religion and the Bible. I believe false religion has portrayed God and His ways as something which it is no wonder people don't like Why do you think so many people are opposed to religion and the Bible, when the truth is intended to set us free and God's laws are really intended to keep us out of trouble and provide a good life even now?

I think this web link give much good information about God and religion; http://www.teachmegod.com/home18e.htm

I do not believe most are actually opposed to the teachings of the bible..They dislike the way the bible is being used to mean anything the bible reader chooses to impose on it at this moment..The bible has been interpreted many, many differant ways..That is the unique style it was written in and for what purpose I do not know.. I simply know it can and has been interpreted in many different ways for many years to be used to aid in swaying people's beliefs and opinions..So I think many people are being tired of the buible being USED and ABUSED to place an opinion of others..

It is not so much that people are opposed to religion or the Bible. Many non believers find that to be one of the Great Books on its own merits. The problem religion faces is what people do with it. So much violence in history has come from one religion or another. Not permitting other people to disagree is a big theme that religions get stuck on. To be called an Infidel by Islam, or a Heretic by Christianity has the same deadly consequences for the victim. One of the greatest strengths of this country has been in the respect for your freedom to explore whatever you wish intellectually or spiritually. This has made this country vibrant in its variety and culture. It gives us strength. Recently, however, many Christians have taken the position that if you do not believe as they do, you are a bad person without morals and have no spiritual content. Some attack those of different views like abortion and homosexuality. Some are even demonizing Islam. This gives religion a bad name and causes hostility in return. Everyone needs to leave each other alone to think and practice as they wish. To not respect that will cause our country to collapse, and lead to open violence. That religion could lead to that is a contradiction in terms, but sometimes true anyway.

Dear truthseeker,

I think the Bible gives us the answer: "And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, becuae their deeds were evil." (Romans 3:19).
You see truthseeker, all of us are sinners. Just as Adam and Eve hid from the Lord when they sinned, so to natural man is opposed to God and His word-the Bible. Ephesians 2:1-3 tells us that natural man is DEAD in sins and trespasses. How can a dead person hear God, let alone obey Him? See howmany times the Lord mentions the phrase, "He that hath ears to hear, let him hear" in the Bible. God is not repeating Himself to add more volume to the Bible. He is reapeating it because He wants us to understand that spiritually DEAD people cannot hear nor obey God. Take a look at John 8:43- end of chapter. The Pharisees were the religious leaders of those days-the theologians, pastors, priests. But they could not see that here was Almighty God standing before them and speaking with them. They were "religious" and probably moral but they were not saved. They were natural men (unsaved). You see people do not need religion, they need salvation. Only the Lord Jesus Christ can save a person.

There are a few possibilities why outsiders are 'turned off' by Christianity.
1. The acceptance that man (self?) is a false god in God's sight.
2. Seeing and hearing other 'Christians' lives,
3. The fact that what Christ said (as recorded in the Bible) and what man has done (deviations from the scriptures) do not match. (At present, I am researching deviation #7).

Go back in history before this book was created and see how the people live and survived. Forcing people to worship in a way they do not believe in is wrong. Killing people because they choose to worship a different god is barbaric. More people have been killed in the name of god then all wars. The hypocrisy's in the bible should make any intelligent person question it.

So many people have used it falsly, They use it for their gain be it money, power, exceptance.etc.. But your name says it all, People can believe what ever they want, and satan and his minions will try every thing in his power to make them. GOD strictly forbids idolitry. The truth is the only way, why believe a lie. To the best of my knowledge GOD is the creator and sustainer of life. though he dos'nt come down every day to speak to use the spirit in his children does in its own way.many are called few are chosen. maybe he just doesnt want them.

through the teachings of the bible and religion you may be able to learn great moral values and all that good stuff. but through religion you can justify so many things that are evil because people are interpreting it in different ways

A pole was taken recently and 88 % of the poled believes there is a God. That leaves a minority of 12%.
And they are searching for God.
Otherwise, why are they in this category?

Because both are so closed minded and have caused (and will continue to cause) more pain and suffering than anything else in the world.
