Catholics pray to the Virgin Mary because they believe she will intercede and pray to God for them,
She is not an Idol, she was "chosen" to bare the child of God.
I believe that to worship her is a sin because the bible says, thou shalt have no other God's before me.
But the Catholics believe differently.

Strictly speaking she is an idol, but to the people who pray to her, I think the statues are more a focus point than anything else. It's a harmless thing so why criticize?

no she isn't. she is honored not worshipped and we don't pray to her we ask for her intercession.
commandment= honor your father and mother
mary= mother of jesus, thus if jesus is god the mary is mother of god(all things are possible with god if you don't get the basics behind this reasoning).
we are all one body with jesus as the head,we are thus related and can honor our mother, remember it is honoring not the lie people try to spread of it being worship. we know that only god is worthy of worship. the catholic church was around since the time of jesus,no other christian church can be traced back as far as the catholic church, bearing witness from the beginning and having the authority of our first pope peter we can trust that doing this is ok,if it wasn't it would have been banned long ago.

those who pray to her ... see her as an intermediate between them and God
i dont see anything wrong with this in any way and it does not make her an idol
but someone who is close to God
