Banning religion would not stop Gay Bashing, or Racism, or Snobbery or any of the other thuggish, fat-headed prejudices bullies and bigots are responsible for. The people who think that way would continue to do so without any help from religion. So, No. I don't agree with Elton John.

I DO think the world would be much better off without religion and it's privileges in society and government should be stripped away, but not 'cause Elton John says so.

I find it hard to believe that Elton John thinks we should ban religion, but if he does, he's more of a jerk than I thought he was, and his views are everything that America opposes. I too am proud to be a Christian, and the day Christianity is banned in America is the day we can start looking forward to Jesus' return.

Let's look at the meaning of the word 'ban'. Small word with lots of pretty horrid overtones.
vb to prohibit, esp, officially, from action, display, entrance, sale etc; to forbid.

Now, my guess is that if Elton John really did say this he probably tried to explain what he meant by 'ban' because its literal meaning suggests a totalitarian attitude that would mean violence against people refusing to conform to the 'ban'. The Kurds refused to obey Saddam's ban on their political activities toward independence from his regime and resistence to becoming a slave to the hegemony of Iraq. He has been found guilty of crimes against humanity because a group of people refused to conform to his ban. This is a classic case of raw human power dressing itself up in the white robes of self - righteousness and beginning the whole process of violence by posing the question 'why don't we ban people.... from..... doing.... something.. we don't like'

No, I'm sure this question is a bit of a wind up but it does reflect deeply held opinions and feelings which are a clear indication that believers and unbelievers have no common future, as do murderers and pacifists. The 'us' and 'them' signifiers are always here in a society boasting free speech but God help us if we allow 'prohibition' to be the norm again like it was under Stalin, Tankred, Pol Pot, The Pharisee, Hitler, Most European Monarchs, Most Caesars, Mao, Most Middle Eastern dynasties etc.

The fact that a personality should even suggest the idea of a ban sends signals up my spine that confirm we are still living in the 'hour when darkness reigns'.

Elton John is a homosexual. It seems that he does not like the opinions of heterosexuals. Being rich and famous, it seems that he thinks that his opinions are important.

Personally, I have no interest in the opinions of Elton John, "Bono", or the rest of these people.

Well I think that "we" shouldn`t however when the time does come then I don`t think it will be "us" doing the banning, and considering people worshipped the moon and probably still do it seems rather silly that "banning" was even considered unless we need a permit or permission to look up. They may stop congregations from forming, by dispersing large crowds in the name of security, hold on "they" have.

I comply with a element. i think people have the main suitable to have self belief in even though they desire. i don't have faith that there is a God or Jesus. i think people have been developed from apes. It says in the bible that incest is inaccurate yet we are supposedly the descendants of Adam and Eve? Gross i take advantage of to be a Christian however the greater i think of approximately it the greater I see faith being a political debate. The bible has been re-written distinctive situations and its problematic to comprehend what's the fact and what grew to become into not. i think the bible is fiction...a tale made up or twisted into something unreal. . only like Santa Clause, The tooth Fairy, Easter bunny, and so on... once you're youthful, you believed lots that those issues existed yet sooner or later your perception got here crashing down. i think that its a similar situation with Jesus. Why do different international locations have perception in yet another God? For all all of us comprehend Budd ah would desire to be the only authentic God. If in fact there's a God. the element is, its okay to have self belief, it supplies people desire. Its only the place grew to become into Jesus and "God" for the time of September eleventh? the place grew to become into he whilst my mom died of maximum cancers? the place grew to become into he in the process the Holocaust? that's mentioned that God creates Miracles, whilst infact its only success. I do have faith in success if something. Im not attempting to fire up a debate or be preached to. those are only my ideals and opinion. I truthfully have not something against those that have faith in any different case. Peace to you all.

No. I think that he has been badly hurt by some very mean people hiding behind the word Christian. I have too but, I can't imagine what it would be like to face the prejudices he has because of his sexuality. I think more people need to read the part in the Bible where God says He alone is God and that it is not our place to judge others lest we be judged.

I don't think it is our right to ban religion (even though I am an atheist). It is everybody's right to think and believe as they choose. Just because a feel religious people are bigots and fanatics doesn't mean that we should take away the freedom of thought to other people.

A
