I'd like to get to some of the underlying causes here, not pass judgment. But it seems like if a person uses birth control they would not get pregnant.
So, why do we have so many abortions here in the U.S? Why not use birth control?

funny question, the more promiscuous people get, the more deadly and life long lasting sexual diseases become easily transmittable! the sexual revolution brought in a slew of sexual diseases that can be carried by a person and show not one symptom but be a carrier for many many years and give it to people...so if your asking about abortions and birth control....should this country and many others be talking the other A word..abstenece....to actually save the peoples lives not just stop unwanted babies...just like any other method for trying to stop getting or giving sexually diseases, birth control is not 100 percent effective...people still get pregnant when on the pill,
and other methods are not as reliable ad the pill..so that one reason, the other is a lot of people do NOT take the pile or forget to take it...and just because someone takes birth control does not mean they can not get pregnant and it defiantly does not stop any disease at all..
so again the word here should be the A word abstinence until marriage...at least you all would be safe then..

good luck

Because many people are idiots who have unprotected sex because they are either too stupid to get birth control or because they think that it won't happen to them in their ignorance ( many teens are like that).

Sometime BC does fail though. Condoms do sometimes break and sometimes a woman can mess up her birth control ( if you skip a day) and you get pregnant on accident.

Women who get abortions may have gotten pregnant accidentally, which means they may not have been careful enough with birth control or that their birth control failed. Abortion does not bother me. I do not believe that a person has a fully developed human conciousness at conception and there are 6 BILLION people on Earth. In case you are stupid you may not realize that overpopulation is already a problem and our Earth feels the stress of that. As time goes by it will become an even greater problem and we will all fight over the Earth's resources and every woman who decides not to bring another life in the world is doing every last one of us a favor. I think quality of life is more important than quanity and I do not understand why so many people waste time complaining about what women decide to do with their bodies and pregnancies when there are 6 BILLION PEOPLE IN THE WORLD! How about you spend your time making life better for those 6 Billion instead of worrying about the miniscule few FETUSES that are aborted. Get real, someday it will be more than the nuisance it is today. It will be very real and hard to resolve and with every woman popping out kids by the second the few that are aborted will not be missed by me.

There are so many answers to this question.

One, birth control is not right for everyone. It makes me a raving B with an ITCH!

Two, some young woman especially, do not have access to birth control.

Three...some people do not believe in putting chemicals into their body. (but oddly have no problem with abortion?)

I believe that abortion should not be used as a form of birth control, unless the baby's life or the mothers life is at risk.

birth control don't work all the time. some people don't know that certain medications like antibiotics when used together will lesson the affects of the birth control. some women are not sexually active and get pregnant due to incest, rape or molestation. these increase abortion rates also. some women can be easily seduced through drinking alcohol when not planning on having sex and not on birth control. its lots of women out there who choose to have abortions due to just plain messing up their lives through casual sex with people they don't know and don't want to have a baby by them. its all kinds of reasons why someone would choose to have one.
don't judge those people so cautiously because u may have to walk in their shoes one day.

I think sometimes women are embarrassed to get birth control.... I don't know why, it would help so much!! Sometimes it could be an issue of affording it, although planned parenthood usually provides pills free of charge. They also provide free condoms. Birth control is about 98-99% fool proof....
Younger girls might not want their parents to find out they are on the pill and therefore dont think before they have unprotected sex. Its a good questions, i wish I knew too!!

people don't always want to go on birth control. they are too afriad that someone (parents) would find out about them having sex. also, many depend on condoms or use no form of birth control, and some is rape. also, no birth control is 100%. each situation is different there are tons of stories on the internet and magazines that tell of different peoples stories, including why they had the abortion.

Some people feel like they can't tell there parents so they can get birth control. Other peoples insurance doesn't always cover birth control. Then there are the girls that are stupid and think getting pregant could never happen to them!

Birth control is not 100% effective. But it is fairly effective.

Ideally, more people would use birth control (yes, men should wear condoms..it isn't just the womans responsibility).

But sex seems to cause people to not think about these things, I suppose.

because some people don't have the resources to go get birth control, or are to scared to ask, or don't learn about in school(like they should) so then they have sex and get pushed into a corner, and they are forced to make an even harder decision. that's (in my opinion) why. i really think that it comes down to how well educated you are on the subject, i mean look at all the red neck towns that have dozens of teen pregnancies.

Some people are not educated on proper birth control and some people use birth control and it fails. The only method that is 100 percent accurate is Witholding sex.
