I think this is disrespectful to women in a way. They are all lined up pining for one wealthy good looking guy they don't know. I feel bad for them. Don't women see this type of show as insulting and degrading?

I'd think that no sane woman would want to actually be a contestant, given that they are all making fools of themselves. Maybe it's the money? A chance to "be on TV!!!!! Woo hooo!!"

If they aren't acting, they must be unbalanced to think that this kind of show is anything other than pure train-wreck entertainment.

Yeah but there are some pretty shallow and stupid women out there...what are thinking going on a show like that? It's just to get cheap exposure...then they ALL really get swept away in the glamour of it and and really think they have a shot in hell of "winning" the bachelor, that the claws start to come out...oddly of those who can hold their composure together throughout the entire show with some sense of dignity, well bravo for them...maybe they applied as a joke or prank never really thinking they'd make it that far.

And imagine actually winning or being selected...knowing "Mr. Right" has been segmenting his "true" feelings between you and two or three others...yeah right...maybe it worked for the first couple...but all these people who have applied since just do it for fame and fun...no reality in any of it.

There are a lot of things in this world that are disrespectful to both men and women. It's nice to know that there are still decent people on both sides however...so turn that tube off every now and again and I think the world would be a much better place without all of it!

I think it is... it's portraying women as beggars who can't find a man so they have to win a contest to be with a man they don't know just because he is supposedly a rich prince. It also brings out the worst in women because of the competition and the behaviors that they do. So yes I feel it is insulting and degrading to women who are so far above that.

I also think it would be insulting and degrading if it were gender reversed.

It's only insulting to the kinds of idiots who go on the show, not all women. They volunteer for this spectacle.

Likewise, I don't think stripping is demeaning to women--it's a choice made by the people who do it.

Also, think of it this way--in real life, many people are often pining for the same person.

Of course it is. Why would any self-respecting woman, along with 19 other women who are doing the same thing, offer her body to some random rich guy, who will only divorce them as soon as the contest is over . . . on national television, no less? It's absolutely vomitous.

Actually I do find it offensive. Not so much that I scream about it but, I don't watch it. They all appear a little pathetic, chasing a man like that.

On the other hand, I don't mean to appear sexist but I think the one where the men vie for the woman isn't so bad. It just seems more natural, men fighting to win the hand of a lady. Ok call me old fashioned.

I don't find the show degrading at all.. It's a chance to meet someone you wouldn't ever meet. and if you don't feel a connection with the guy you don't have to take the rose.

Not at all. Not every woman is defined by these women. I think some are just trying to become discovered on TV and make it some how.

There are worse things to be offended by. . .

I agree, but I guess it takes all kinds of women and people to make this world go around. They like their 15 minutes of fame, too. Most of them hope to be "discovered" while being on one of these types of shows.
