I just moved into a brick home, someone either tried to fill a few gaps in between bricks on the porch wall or just got sloppy while calking windows, but the caulk is white, the bricks are multi colored and there is caulking everywhere...it is such an eyesore. Is there an easy way to get it off of the bricks? Thanks in advance for any help.

A heat gun works really well as long as you dont get it near any glass windows. I hate to crack a few to learn this lesson. The caulk removes qu9te easily once it is soft. Heat guns are relatively cheap.

well miss i can tell u this, using a wire brush or hard scraping tool is going to scratch your brick, besides if its really chaulking on brick you should be able to pull it off anyway, as long as the chaulking is completely dry you'll be able to pull it off with no problems - just make sure its completely dry - inside and out -the solvents i know that would probably help you are goop off, and muratic acid. The acid is whats usually used to clean all types of bricks and stone decoration, but, if you're not familiar with it, get some professional advice - its sold in home depot for about $20 or sa a gallon but as i said ask a professional (your friendly home depot person for that department) if you're not used to working with chemicals b/c you may have to dilute it and it is acid, you could get burnt from it (its harsh but effective). The "goop off" may also work depending on the texture of the brick -- if its smooth the goop off will be your answer used along with a brillo pad but if its rough textured a medium bristled brush and the acid might have to be used --- good luck and remember to try and peel it off first, and by all means, do not use a hair dryer or heat gun b/c heat will make chaulk very messy to work with

There is a product for removing caulk...it's at the paint/hardware store. Or, you can use a heat gun (carefully)..other than that..you just have to use a sharp wood chiesel and keep digging away at it. Don't you just hate those amature caulker's?

There are no easy answers to this. In my opinion you will have to scrape it out with a putty knive or something of that sort. I do not know of any chemical that would take it off.

elbow grease is the only way ....most caulk is impervious to any solvents.

scrape or cut out all you can, and then use a wire brush. just be careful not to damage the brick
