They kinda train themselves but I would keep them in a small room with access to the litterbox like in a bathroom or laundry room. They generally will be interested in it and get in a scratch etc. But while you are away at work keep them in the smaller room to keep them from having an accident. Generally you only need to do this for the first few days and they get the idea quickly and remember were the little box is. If there seems to be a problem though try getting Cat Attract little from PetSmart which has a smell to it that attracts the cat to go in the litter box.

By 8 months they should have been box trained already but you can get cat box liners that are supposed to help them use the litter box of course if you have a cat like mine he will just tear it to shreds. I just put the cat in the box and took it's paws and moved them like cats do when they're doing their thing. Also I kept an eye on the cat so everytime it looked like he was getting ready to do his thing I ran him to the litter box. My bother put a foot high barrier around his litter box, kitty bed, and toys so he (the kitten) would get used to the box and not have an accident somewhere else. It's kind of like potty training a child without the Pull Ups.

I taught my cat when she was a kitten. All I did was put her in her box 3 or 4 times a day. They learn where it is. I don't know how they know that, that's what that is for but they do. If you move it do the same thing. If by chance they forget and do it else where, pretend smack their nose and go put them into the litter box. It works, I don't understand how but it does. I guess it's the same concept as a baby with a bottle. Good luck.

I hope at 8 months they should be trained already.
Most little kittens you will find, if you sit them in some KITTY LITTER, they just sit and perform straight away bless them! They are a lot more intelligent then we give them credit for. And often better house trained then some human beings.
Good luck

Usually you can just show them, cats are smart...or the first time they poo on the floor put the poo in the box while showing the cats, cats are clean animals and really smart so they naturaly want to cover there mess (and litter allows them to do that) It shouldnt be that hard for ya, just think like an animal lol...

If they're anything like the cats I've had, you will need to place them in the litter tray and take their two front paws and make them do a digging motion with them. If you do this with them after their food, I guarantee they will use their litter like good kitties!

You'll have to literally place them in the litter box from time to time. When they've weed or pooed in there once, take them out. They'll soon associate it with going to the toilet and get used to burying it too!! It should be easier starting them young but you have to accept some accidents along the way!!

Hopefully your kittens mum taught it to use the tray, just make sure you use the same litter that was used previously.
Cause they really don't like changes to type of litter used.
