Go ahead. You're just fine with sugar. And a perfect icing for the spice cake.

You can not make a decent frosting with regular sugar, unless you have a food processor, to grind the sugar granules into powder.

This one is sooooooo good!!

1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese -at room temperature
1 stick butter-at room tepmperature
3 3/4 confectioners sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

combine well, cream cheese and butter, on low speed.
add sugar a little at a time.
blend well on low speed, for 1 minute.
add vanilla, increase mixer speed to medium, blend until fluffy.
For Chocolate frosting, add 1/2 cup coco powder.

Yeah the confectioners sugar will work. Just whip your cream cheese with that and it'll be great. Add a little vanilla too to give a little something extra.
