Sometimes, especially when religious matters flare up in the media and get some intense attention for a few days. People who have a religion can speak freely about it, but those who don't tend to be attacked the moment they say(even politely) that they don't believe God exists. My own family has done this at times, so it's painful to sit back and let them say what they think, but know you can't do the same without risk.
I've heard some believers profess to want to uphold church and state, yet I've also heard that some states have laws that prevent atheists from even holding office. Can't say that's very fair or constitutional. We hear about people making a fuss over Christmas(as in the whole mess last year over whether or not it was proper to say Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays, frankly I'd rather be wished Happy Holidays than Merry Christmas), taking God out of schools and government and all sorts of things like that.
When I get bombarded with things like that(and yes, I admit it's not all the time and not every Christian or believer does this sort of thing), I get the distinct impression that people of faith are the only ones who count, who are the only ones entitled to have their beliefs protected, yet being that I have no faith/beliefs, they can trample over me whenever they want. Sometimes it's been done even when I've defended the beliefs of those who would rather see me deported to China or someplace else that's "godless".
So yeah, I feel it at times, but thankfully not all the time or I would have probably found someplace else to live by now.

It depends on the person, if anyone has good knowledge over his religion he will never feel himself a second class citizen, after all every religion teaches you to lead a good, respectable life in the society where does this question arise.
Before criticizing any religion we have to study the religion completely and thoroughly.

No, I don't feel like a second class citizen but I know some see me that way for being an atheist.

It shouldn't. That's the great thing about this country, we are free to believe as we desire. The Constitution specifically provides for a separation to protect both the religious and the non-religious. The full rights of citizenship are granted based on one's willingness to abide by the laws. Therefore, if we respect the laws, and we honor the purpose for which this country was founded, we will live and believe as we will and not succumb to those who tell us otherwise.

I'm not sure what you mean about religion affecting citizenship
classification. If I am or am not religious in any manner of belief
it should not effect my status as a secular citizen.

No, and why should it? I don't believe in God as I think its stupid to put my faith in something that has no overall effect on my life in reality. I should not have to feel like a second class citizen and neither should anyone else religous or not. Each to their own, as long as they don't bother me I won't bother them.

I don't feel second-class, but I do feel discriminated against in some ways. Radical liberal activist groups like the ACLU are trying to squash Christianity like a bug, but they're not going to succeed.

I don't know what religion has to do with citizenship. I'd rather just be considered an impartial entity of no citizenry.
