do you know that even though so many civilians are against the war, the soldiers that are fighting understand why we are over there. they know if we pull out the war will be over here soon. i've gotten this info from several military ppl . what's your opinion? i'd really love the opinion of those serving in the military too. you know to see if you think differently. and why do you feel that way?

While I am not serving actively now I am a veteran. You need to change your statement to 'some' of the soldiers fighting over there understand. There are many who do not believe we should be in Iraq. There are many who do not believe Iraq is a true part of the war on terror. Afghanistan is part of that war but we are not putting anywhere near as much support into that war now.

It is not reasonable to state that if we pull out of Iraq the Sunnis, Shia's and Kurds will come here to fight. These people are fighting for superiority or seperate statehood in Iraq. They would have nothing to gain by coming here. As for the real trerrorist organizations? Our presence there may make it easier for them to fight us close to their homes but don't kid yourself, that will not stop them from attempting to hit us here. whether we stay there or not that will always be a danger.

Pulling out now would be a grave mistake. The job we set out to do is far from over and we need to see it to the end. The libs need to keep out of it and the media needs to stop reporting baseless facts and let the military do the job they are trained to do without the worry about what the rest of the world thinks. That's the biggest problem worrying about what others think,it's war the enemy doesn't play by any set rules and neither should we.

I don't think you can make a blanket statement about ALL the Soldiers. To be honest with you most of the unit I served with over there did not agree with us being there. We simply did our job, and checked our politics at the door before we deployed. There is an increasing sentiment among some Soldeirs to speak out too - especially after they return.

Leaving now would be a bad thing. A smooth transition to an Iraqi security force is essential to maintain some sort of law and order.

I can understand why we went to war in the first place, unlike so many others, but I do feel that an robust exit strategy is required, and not something that we seen to have just yet.

Big love to the men and women in the forces out there. They are doing us proude in very difficult circumstances, and may they all come home safe and well!

how many people writing here adn or reading and or asking questions lost family in WW2, Korea, Vietnam, or any of the newer wars?
I did.. Lost more than half my uncles on my moms side adn my dads side..uncles I never got the chance to ever meet...just we ALL can do stuff like this and be actually FREE..we as Americans think other in the world are as free as we are..so have freedom, but no country is as free as we are to do or not do so many things....and it is mainly from all our soldiers past and present who fight to keep us and other countries free....
reason we got into any of the wars was to keep more and more of the world free.....especially the USA...
so I for one appreciate everything they have gone through and will go through until this problem is solved....and every one..it is better fought there than here...really it is...
this is not the first war, and it will most likely not be the last war...and it is not the first war some people did not like and seeing that we ARE a FREE nation..it will not be the last war people do not like..and be glad you me and every one else can say that...because some countries you cannot even say that...for great fear...
I appreciate what they are doing..would I rather have them all out..you better believe I would..instantly...safe and sound all back home...but it can't happen yet or every life lost will be in vane...
so keep up the smiles maybe not for the government....no one is always happy with any government.......but for the people fighting for us and others.....your uncle, your aunt, your cousin, your brother or sister, or mom or dads..that's for who...let not do what some so called Americans did to the returning guys from Vietnam, try to shame them.....be proud of our soldiers...very proud...
Iraq employed one of the worlds top chemical weapons scientists..they did not pay her big money just because they liked her..they paid her to make these weapons...period..how about the tens of thousands of innocent Iraq people who these chemical weapons WERE tested on? maybe we are fighting to free those people still in the country so it will never happen again to their families...how about the brand new jet planes and jeeps and tons and tons of food the army found about a year into this war, berried over on hundred feet under the ground all brand new jet fighter plane, food jeeps and many more that we do not know what they found, over one hundred feet under ground..so just because no one found anything ( humanitarians gave that country six months warning we were coming to get them) it does not mean that there can't be chemical weapons buried some where else in the country! or sold or given to other countries...

good luck to all

That's complete bunk, the government of Iraq had nothing to do with the WTC attacks, and never had the capability to do any harm to the U.S on a national level. I have many friends who went over with the belief that they were protecting our country, and came back feeling confused and used. Of couse military people would say this to you. It's kind of like a car saleman saying you need a new car. Job security.

Military propaganda... Republicans can be thought of as a colony of bee's gone berserk, they just react without thinking and the best way to become one of these insane bee's is to join one of their hives (like the military)... If we don't let democrats handle situations with diplomacy we will end up with complete totalitarianism (a totally berserk bee hive).

You can only say some of the soldiers unless they all have been asked . I have mixed feelings about your statement . It is right but then again it is wrong,
