i posted this under the military section too because i wasn't sure which would get the most answers. someone i know who is in the army said that the army is recruiting illegals here in the states then getting their papers for them and helping them become legal. he said that the navy, air force and reserves are doing this too but not as much as the army. the marines are not. is this true?

i remember reading of the illegal Mexican who was wounded in the Marines last year that Bush visited. he had been here several years and was awarded citizenship at his bedside. thats what started the discussion with this army pal of mine.

Seems like are as many 'yes they can' as 'no they can't'....I wonder what the truth is?

At one time it was unheard of, not anymore. Illegals are being recruited and are promised citizenship for serving.

i responded on the other site too....
the answer is yes. illegals can buy all kinds of identification from social security cards to birth certificates that look valid and most recruiters do not question them. they run a national, state and local criminal background check then sign them up. i know for a fact they recruit illegals the number of 'unknown' citizenships are well into the tens of thousands in the army alone. so those who tell you no don't know the truth. i was a recruiter for 6 yrs and am still active army now.

I don't think so but that would be a good way to boost the military roles and get rid of illegal immigrants. Forcing all military aged illegals to join the military or go home would be more effective then operation ******* that Eisenhower used in the 50's to purge this cancer from our country.

yes, i have a friend who is an army recruiter and they help them get their 'green cards' or temp visa's and once they are in then their citizenship is fast tracked. its easier and faster than if they tried to do it in civilian life and they are getting paid and learning english too. there are lots of ppl from many different countries in the army specifically but in all the branches. the marines are a lot tougher though, all the way around . if you think about it it makes sense, get your citizenship while getting paid and enjoying the benefits too.

As an ex sailor I do know that people can go into the US military without being a citizen or they could just a few years ago when I was in. I do not know if that helps their citizenship papers/ process go any faster than anyone else or not but it shoud IMO.

I didn't think so, but some people here swear that they can. They're always saying how we should accept illegal immigrants since they "are" serving in the military, and risking their lives for our country. Seeing as how they LOVE Mexico so much, I highly doubt it's true.

Yes they can. One from here did. His mommy is raising all kinds of **** because her boy only signed for the minimum insurance and she wants the U.S. Government to give her more. If her boy couldn't read and or understand what he was signing (this is what his mommy is saying) she should have kept his butt in Mexico. Now she wants our government to give her legal status. She did not serve this country

No an illegal cannot join the military. "IF" the U.S. ever (and they won't) gave illegals the opportunity to get status for serving in the military, we would have the biggest military in the world. But no they cannot.
